      health effects?

Anyone know what the health affects of lucid dreaming are? Positive or negative? I mean, especially for those of us who do WBTB. That doesn't sound healthy.

I don't see how WBTB can demage your health. It has the same demage as going to the toilet in the middle of the night. Theoreticly lucid dreams, nightmares, SP, HH and so on can lead psychological demage but if you're not too young and know what you're facing It shouldn't happen.

The difference is that going to the bathroom in the middle of the night doesn't take a full hour. WBTB does. I am not worried about causing mental health issues with this -- in fact it seems very healthy and therapeutic for the mind. It's just the effects of polyphasic sleeping I am concerned with.

some mental issues are common but worst is losing reality = you cant distinguish a real world from a dream world but what i know of its very rare
Insanity is the mind's only effective defense against reality.

WBTB doesn't take an hour. Everyone's different, and it won't mess with your health. Experiment to see how long you need to stay up.

WBTB takes half an hour for me, which means I just go to bed half an hour earlier ! Easy !

I read somewhere that lucid dreamers tend to be more resistant to disease. I mentioned it in my LD'ing presentation at school, but I'm not sure what my source was now.
Staying awake to chase a dream...

WBTB is a fancy name for waking up in the middle of the night.

Everyone does it at least 4 times a night, even if they don't remember. So no, of course it is not unhealthy.

Well, when I say WBTB I mean they kind you find in the techniques section of lucid dreaming websites that says to stay up for an hour or so. I guess I will just do the 1 or 2 minute kind after all.

Yeh, that should work...I literally just get up at typically 6a.m, drink something (I have a glass of water or something in my room), go to the loo if I need to, and then hop back into bed...usually takes me about half an hour at least to get back to sleep, but at least I'm resting so I don't think it has any bad effects. WBTB has worked like a charm for me the last couple of weeks since I've been trying it.
