A lucid is simply being aware in your dream, once you lucid you have free rain over everything and its as if its real life. the realness is exactly the same.
Control comes after you have become lucid, some people find it hard to do things once there dreaming like for example having powers.
its all a mater of believing its possible and doing, but like i said the realness factor is amazing

A lucid dream is simply a dream in which you are aware that you are dreaming. It could be a nightmare, it could be the best dream of your life. You could spend it stuck in one place struggling to move, or flying around blowing crap up and dancing in the sky and eating the stars. So long as you are dreaming, and you are aware you are dreaming, you are lucid dreaming.

Dream control, in terms of lucid dreaming and the forum here on DV, is just the ability to consciously and intentionally influence what is going on in your dreams. Whether passive or active, it's manipulating the course of the dream. However, it's not just limited to lucid dreams. To a certain extent every dream is controlled, like during a non-lucid nightmare when you are running and go "I have to run fast, and not fall!" and the next thing you know you are tripping and laying on the ground. But lucid dreaming allows the ability to consciously control these dreams, dictating or subtly manipulating your environment and dream characters as well as your own thoughts and actions. You can control dreams without realizing they are dreams, and you can be lucid without having control over a single thing. But combine the two...
