      New and excited

      I've never really even heard of LD up untill a week ago and after looking into it I am really interested. I used to undergo sleep paralysis when lying face up at the start of naps or at the end of and kind of sleep having no idea what the hell it was. I used to be scared to sleep faced up because I would not be able to move and felt incredibly heavy and found it hard to breath at times. So I used to sleep on my sides up until yesterday where I felt some pretty cool things. After browsing through the forums I realize what my brain is actually doing and attempted to just jump in and LD like WILD except without waking up in the middle of the night. I recall the vibrations, twitching, lights and a high pitched humming in the start which other people have described. I even recall going into a dream realizing it and ended up waking up from it. I woke up recalling some of my dream around 5ish just by nature but forgot to write it down and forgot the dream I had after going back asleep to. I'm going to start a dream journal to remember my dreams better and have been doing RC throughout today all ready. Just writing this to kind of get my self wrapped around the idea of LD and maybe get some insight. Is is possible to just go right into a LD from wake without waking up like a WILD? I'm also happy to finally figure out whats wrong with me sleeping faced up, taking a nap during a day face up I could be in sleep paralysis in what felt like a few moments. Also the farther I go into the paralyzed state the louder the high pitch noise I hear go's up, is it just because I realize my brain is more active?

      hi welcome to dv! as far as i know wild is the closest way to go directly from a waking state to ld. thats why they call it wake induced lucid dreaming. from what you have said here it shouldnt be too hard to fine tune your wilding experiences. dont take that to heart though because your mind is unpredictable; it may be harder for you than anyone else. anyway all i can say is read the tutorials. and practice practice

      Hey dmonk, congrats on finding a way to benefit from your SP, and also on the lucid dream And of course, welcome to DV
      Technically, no matter how you do it, as long as you are awake, your body falls asleep, and you enter a lucid without losing consciousness, you are having a WILD. The WBTB, getting up for a while, then attempting a lucid dream (attempting a WILD or a DILD, you can do either), isn't necessary, but is helpful for some. As you are naturally getting this SP so often, it sounds like you won't really have to WBTB but can just WILD straight from each episode of SP For example, you mentioned this happens very frequently during naps. Use it to your advantage!!!

      As far as sounds and etc. go, the paralysis is true but the rest of what you experience during it is (or at least, should be ) hallucination. I personally cannot tell you why you get them, why some happen sometimes and not other times, and why they can become so severe. But all those weird hallucinations are pretty standard SP stuff, and totally harmless. In fact, you've just discovered the way to make it awesome Happy lucids

      thx shift attempted last night and I think I went lucid because I woke up around 2 which I never do, but I still suck at remembering my dreams so I have no idea. After that I had a normal dream and woke up around 5 and wrote that down to the best of my memory, hopefully the dream journal helps the memory. Also do you know a good way to prevent swallowing? I can resist the urge but liquid ends up building up in the back of my throat and I end up spitting out liquid the amount as if I just took a drink of something.

      Instead of trying to prevent the swallowing, just try to let it happen of its own accord. Just as you blink and breathe without thinking about it, you swallow when falling asleep. It's just the fact, I think, that lying there for a long time with nothing to think about you suddenly get the urge to swallow and that's all you can focus on. You'll notice in the forums that this is a common problem people get, and probably the best advice it "just let it happen". Recognize that you need to swallow, and just let it happen without making a fuss of it. Hopefully you can allow it to happen naturally enough that it won't disrupt you!
