New to LD and need some pointers

Ok I learned about LD last year and i thought that my friend was making it up, but now that i think about it, i really think it is something attainable. If you people want to give me some pointers, tell some success stories, or share a LD that you had, it would be very motivating. Ever Keeping an open mind, Dooley The Clovis

      Hey man,welcome to the forums!

Lucid dreaming is very attainable, if you are willing to learn a new skill.
The reason people dont know much about it yet is because it is a relatively new discovery. Because not a lot of people know about it, some may lable it new-agey and stuff. But there is no doubt as to its existance, it has been scientifically proven countless times.

Trust me, within 2 years lucid dreaming is going to become big.

Anyway you should go to the tutorials section (accessible from the forum index) and take a look at the WBTB,MILD and FAT posts.
Thats where all of the real information is kept.
The MILD technique is really easy to do, and most newbie-friendly. WBTB is for those who want to apply themselves to Lucid dreaming (LD) attempts slightly more.

Your first lucid dream will probobly come within a month if you keep trying. Mine came about a month after i joined, and when you have your first LD it is totally worth it.

Well all of the stories you will hear on the board may seem amazing, but they do not do lucid dreaming justice. When you have your first it is ten time better than what you would have envisioned it to be, just the sense of freedom alone is intoxicating.

Anyway i digress. If you have any questions, feel free to make apost about them, or you can private message me your question and ill get back to you.

Dreamviews is not, however, ALL bout lucid dreaming. Its a closely knit community where we can discuss anything (within reason).
So take a load off, relax and get to know dreamviews and its members.

      Have fun!

I look forward to the day they start to teach Lucid Dreaming in school... then there will be whole new generations of natural dreamers.

      Hi there, welcome.

Yeah, like Damascus said, people tend to label it as a new-age, or spiritual thing. They think 'dreams' and automatically link it to spirituality etc. Avoid thinking this, it really does exist, and like Damascus said, it's been proven.

If you're interested, there are a few books on Lucid Dreaming, a lot of which are by Dr. Stephen LaBerge. Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming is good. It has information on how to obtain lucid dreams, and a few techniques not on this site, as well as information about experiments with lucid dreaming, and stuff. You don't need to get it though, everything you need should be on this site or forum already.

You might want to check out the adopt a newbie section, and post in that. Having someone more experienced (who you chose and who chose you) to talk to about anything and everything can be really good.

Anyway, just start with some exercises or techniques, and follow the advice in the tutorials section, and before long you'll get a lucid dream.

I think Damascus pretty much summed it up. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't come right away. My first LD came after about 3 weeks and then I had another one a week later. They were both short but yes, the experience is amazing. Granted I haven't had one since then, but I'm at school and with my psycho schedule I don't have time to focus on the techniques that I should. I'll never forget the dual-feeling of a still physical body and feeling my dream body walking. It's awesome.

Advice, keep a journal, check out the various induction techniques, be persistent (hard to do during school, I know), and don't get stressed out of it. LDing is fun and it needs to be kept that way

Anyway, I'm glad to see you here and I hope to hear of your success stories later on! I'm sure you'll be LDing in no time! PM me or any of the mods, DGs (Dream Guides), if you have any questions or just put out a post. Sweet Lucid Dreams!
