Smile Just wanted to say Hello...

No doubt like thousands of others I was inspired a couple of weeks ago by a TV programme on the BBC about dreams which had a short section at the end about lucid dreams and dream control.

This immediately struck a cord with me as about 15 years ago I had a short lucid dream but never knew until now what it really was.

I've started my dream journal, I have LucidWeaver on my phone and I'm doing regular reality checks.

On the first night after discovering Dream Views I did a reality check in a dream by looking at the hands on my watch which changed on the second look but I didn't actually become lucid and the dream ended.

For the last couple of weeks I've tried WILDing with no success - I did get a 'whoosh' but nothing else to report. I've tried FILDing with no joy either. I've also tried various MP3s and BWGEN but although very relaxing haven't ultimately got me anywhere, yet.

I've been expecting too much too soon so am only now concentrating on improving my dream recall and keeping the RCs going regularly. I'm confident I'll achieve a DILD soon.

Strangely, the only LD I've ever had was in black and white - I've never dreamt in black and white before or since. Unfortunately it was only a short dream where I revisited my childhood home. I was amazed at the time as it really felt like I was there and conscious which I haven't experienced before or since. I do regularly fly in my dreams - often to get away from something and although I wouldn't say I'm lucid when I do this I would say that I have some influence in flying during the dream.

      Sorry, I'm rambling now.

Anyway, hello to whoever's out there. I'm looking forward to using this site to help reaffirm my attitude towards lucid dreaming which should help me have lots of LDs in the future!

I had my best dream recall yet this morning - 4 dreams. One was very bizarre where I was fishing through the carpet in my lounge (a bit like fishing through a hole in a frozen pond) resulting in me catching a big fish!

Apparently still not bizzare enough for me to do a reality check though!!

I have fresh thoughts of doing RCs when I go to bed but by the time my longest dreams come before I wake in the morning RCs seem far from my mind. Will just have to keep trying.

I find that when dreaming the regular "bizzare detection mechanism" of the brain just doesn't work and instead you should find those bizzare situations, or overall situations in your dreams that repeat themselves, for instance it may sound obvious to you now but you should give yourself simple instructions like

if I'm flying-> do reality check
if I have superpowers-> do reality check

of course the aforementioned things relate to me and you should find those things that reoccur in your dreams- there can be many- I have like 10-15

      Thanks for the advice.

I will try to really think about it next time I fly in a dream as this is definitely a dreamsign for me.

I have been doing RCs when I wake up as well as laying still and trying to go over my dreams before I write them down.

I wish there were more TV shows about lucid dreaming. It really needs to be more well-known and better understood.

Good luck with your dreaming. It sounds like you are on the right track

Thanks. I wish I'd found out about it 25 years ago!

Unbelievably, my wife has absolutely no interest in dream lucidity or dream control. I think it's absolutely amazing. Like you I can't believe it's not more well known as it could enhance so many people's lives.

My girlfriend is the same way. I've been trying for 10 years to get her into lucid dreaming. I can barely convince her to keep a sporadic dream journal. I guess it really isn't for everyone.
