      Trouble WILDing

Okay, I've tried to WILD three times so far, but I was unsuccessful. The first two times I took too much time to relax, like 15 min., and 15 more to reach partial sleep paralysis (hand and feet)

The third time, I made some progress, I managed to relax almost instantly, achieved sleep paralysis in 5 min. and after a while, I also felt something weird, as if the bed was spinning. But it suddenly stopped and I woke up (quite dissapointed). I still had a bit of paraylisis, but it quickly went away.

My questions are: is this normal? should I continue using this technique until I achieve a lucid dream? And why can't I see any hypnogogic imagery?

      Thanks in advance

WHAT!!! You reached sleep paralysis in 5 mintues. I am so jealous I haven't reached it at all yet. I've tried 3 WILDS and each time i've spent atleast 30mins trying without even reaching sp once yet, - I just can't seem to do it. It's the most frustrating thing in the world.

      What's your secret?

Believe me when I say I was more surprised than you. I just stay still and wait, while breathing slowly

Wow, 5 minutes is very good, usually takes me about twenty.

Anyway, not everyone experiences the same hypnagogic hallucinations, the sensation that you felt as your bed was spinning was yours. Mine are auditory, for example.

It could have been one of two things: either you were in the dream but you didn't realize it(false awakening), in which case you should have done a reality check as soon as you "woke up", or you just didn't complete the phases of the WILD and got up too soon.

For an inexperienced person, I'd say this is normal. The WILD is usually not the first technique that beginners try, as it is pretty difficult to master. Continue the technique as long as you'd like, if you feel that it suits you. After a while though, it's best to try something else. But if I were you, I'd keep at the WILD, being that you were able to enter sleep paralysis in 5 minutes.

You may/may not experience the imagery as part of your experience, but if you do, you probably didn't this time because you moved before the WILD had finished.
