      Newbie in the Dream World

Hey this is my first time posting here but i've been reading the last few days a little on the site, Over the last week i have tried to keep up a journal of my dreams just as the site explains, as far as how many i've actually been able to wake up and remember, only 1. But each night i have more and more dreams that i know i have, when i wake up in my mind i see slight snippits from the nights dreams, i'm sure you all know what i'm talking about, but how do i train myself to wake up more to be able to write them down, and in tons better detail as well. But i do know that i have been having pretty vivid dreams through the nights, more and more occasionally, but i just don't remember what they were as the day goes on, to actually pick out my dream signs. Any suggestions?

Also read about WILD the other night, and i've experienced the sensations and visions of waves of light going across your vision, and light patterns in your eyes, as well as the numbness and slight vibrations associated with WILD, but this way before reading about the WILD process and training yourself, but i have yet to get to the point of seeing frames of visions and snippits of dreams. But now when i have the same visual and body sensations, and for some reason it happens to scare me in a way almost to the point of me waking myself up, and not going any farther, not sure why i am scared, but its not really a huge scare for me, just mabey a little unnerving to know what is really going on i guess. Any suggestions on how to battle those feelings and actually be able to have the WILD experience?

Anyone else ever get a little unnerving about what is going on, and get just a tad bit on the scared side, and intentionally back out? Or mabey its just me

Never be afraid. Your mind would never hurt you.

Re: Newbie in the Dream World

Hi, and welcome. Stick around, read lots, and post lots and you should have most questions answered. Here's what I can say to get you started, though.

1.) When you go to bed, tell yourself over and over again as you are going to sleep, "I will wake up after each dream, and I will remember them." Don't just say this, you have to say it, and know it, and mean it. It may work, it may not. It used to work for me, not so much anymore though. Another trick to try is is to set your alarm for the end of each sleep cycle, so sort of wake up after 4.5 hours, 6 hours, 7 hours. Hopefully it will wake you just as you've been dreaming, so you can write them down straight away (also a good time to try wild). You'll need to fiddle around with the timing a bit to get it more precise for you.

2.) Can't really help you with the WILD problem. Whenever I start to experience any of the symptons (which is rare, because I usually fall asleep first) I get too excited and snap out of it straight away.

      Good luck!

Thanks for the replies, I've been doing the repeating thoughts basically saying "I will wake up and remember my dreams" constantly over and over before i fall asleep, thats when i am usually listening to sleepbot enviromental broadcast, which is something that i beleive helps me let my consciousness fall asleep but still be fairly aware of my surroundings ie subconsciousness is still awake (i think thats how to explain it), which is practically doing the WILD technique. And last night i happened to wake up and be able to remember my dream and what had happened in it to a certain point, not extreemly precise but enough to make a decent point outline. But i do remember having 2 dreams back to back, but really not sure if it was actually 2 dreams or 1 dream that just happened to seem like 2. But anyway, thanks for the replies, and i'll be trying again tonight.

Another question i have is it Ok to try to WILD before having a fairly good ability in dream recall.....? Because i see myself going through all of the techniques but just not being able to get through the full transision stage without getting freaked out or falling asleep......BTW I think its a cool feeling when your body feels like its falling, Last night when i was going through the transistion stage i saw what looked to be Gear shaped light patterns, when i was experiencing the falling effect and feeling...........usually how long does it take to become lucid after the feeling of falling, and complete numbness of the body? Because i couldn't take the falling feeling for more that like a few minutes as it felt, but when i woke myself up 30 mins had already passed b/w the point of me telling myself over and over, to the point of my feelings of falling.

      Thanks again.
