      Introduction for TygrHawk

      Hello everyone!

I just joined this forum, and thought I would do the introduction thing. I am (almost) 44 years old, and I have been at least partially aware of my capability for lucid dreaming since I was fairly young -- maybe 10 or 11. Of course, at that time I had no idea what it was called, or that other people might have experienced it. My first lucid dream happened when I was having a nightmare about being chased by some kind of monster. At some point during the dream I thought to myself "this has to be a dream, and if I can just make myself wake up then I'll be OK". I did manage to wake myself up, and after that I was never scared of things in my dreams. I soon found out that it could be enjoyable to experience things in my dreams that would be dangerous or scary in real life.

After I got older, I discovered that I could exert some degree of control over my dreams. This thrilled me no end, and eventually I found out about the term "lucid dreaming", and started searching for more information, which led me here. I'm hoping to learn how to do it on a more consistent basis, and to have more control over what goes on in my dreams. The concept of "dream sharing" is also interesting to me, although I'm not sure that I believe it's anything more than wishful thinking, despite a couple of experiences I've had that made me think otherwise at the time.

Two things that have been recurring themes in a lot of my dreams and have thus become "dream signs" to me are: being naked in a public place without anyone caring, and the ability to fly. I find that when I have a lucid dream, I can always fly at will, however I have not mastered maneuvering in the air yet. If any of you remember the TV Show "Greatest American Hero", you'll know what I mean.

Well, I guess that's it for now. I'm looking forward to reading about all your experiences and sharing some of my own. Happy dreaming!
