      Unhappy Hmm, kinda stuck...

Hey everyone. Well, i'm sort of new here, but i've been researching lucid dreaming for quite some time now. Unfortuantely, even after months of practice, I've yet to experience a lucid dream. I've tried MILD, but I find that it just isn't for me. I just never can remember to do anything in my dreams. So, I've been working on WILD for a few weeks now, but I haven't experienced anything, save once:
I was in my bed when I started feeling vibrations. I knew exactly what was going on, so I just relaxed through it. I soon got annoyed by the sensation, and decided to try to break the trance. I felt one of my legs lift up out of the sensation (this was actually my dream leg). I was satisfied that it stopped vibrating, so I attempted to do the same to the other. At this point, I 'rolled' out of bed, and into my dream.
Thing is, this only has happened once (about a few months ago). I have never been able to replicate this. I can't even go into sleep paralysis. Whenever I try to WILD, I either fall asleep or give up after long bouts of nothing happening. Does anyone have any good advice to give me? I'm really getting frustrated, but I REALLY want a lucid dream. HELP!

      Hi there

I discovered lucid dreamings a few days ago and already had my first - albeit very short - lucid dream. I managed to reach lucidity by using the WBTB method. Last night I tried WILD (which is considered to be very powerful once mastered).

At first I would lie around for half an hour, without anything happen to me at all.
I found the key is, to constantly tell yourself that you'll be having a lucid dream (in your mind) and try to "go with the flow" when it comes to the images that your brain produces while you're lying there with your eyes closed.

I tried again and again and now - it takes me about 10 minutes to feel my muscles go into sleep paralysis. Its a very weird feeling but don't shy away from it once you get there - its perfectly natural and happens every night while you sleep !

Now - then after a few minutes I start seeing images and even little scenes in which I participate (all the time reminding myself of being aware and lucid) but whenever I try to focus too hard the images fade. So the key is, to "go with the flow" but still try to keep you mind awake.

WILD is pretty difficult for a beginner so you might want to try WBTB first - without wanting to advertise here : go to http://www.lucidipedia.com/misc/index.php - they have a few movies there explaining how WBTB works - very helpful . One of the keys is to be enthusiastic about lucid dreaming (and to not give up trying) but at the same time not to get too excited (since this will prevent you from relaxing).

Don't worry - be patient and eventually it will work . Were u able to remember normal dreams on a daily basis? I can remember about 3 to 4 dreams a night - but it's always been like that for me. But I guess its something where practice makes you proficient so keep trying - its an awesome experience !

      Cheers,

Thanks for all of the advice guys!

I'd have to say that I have pretty good dream recall - I can usually remember about three dreams a night.

I think that my biggest problem was that I always expected too much to happen. Whenever I tried to WILD, if I didn't feel any vibrations or see any imagery than I assumed that it wasn't going to happen. I also think that whenever I get calm enough to WILD, i'd end up thinking to hard about the hypnogogic imagery and that would mess me up.

Thanks for the link to that website, it's really good! I'm definately going to try to use some of the techniques they suggest (like WBTB).

Thanks again for all the advice, and if anyone has anything else they'd like to add/suggest, then go right ahead!
