new here and have a couple questions

i have a lot of very vivid and colorful dreams. i have always wanted to be able to control them. its seems the problem i am having is that as soon as i notice i am dreaming i immediately wake up. is there something i can do to make it not startle me so much?

Unfortunately, no not really. That's something that comes with experience. When first starting out your brain doesn't know what it happening in the lucid dream state and needs your logical centre of the brain to analyze it, which requires that you wake up. That will stop quickly though.

What helped me was doing positive self-affirmation before going to bed, like "Next time I realise I am dreaming, I will relax and rub my hands to stabilize the LD". You can also include this in your MILD.

Where did you learn this, Ninja?

Check out the stabilization tutorial, it might help.

The stabilization tutorial covers a lot. I imagine that it will take awhile for you to learn how to completely stabilize a dream to the point that you don't wake up, but it won't happen all the time. You just have to keep doing it.
