Talking Wow! I just found you guys!

      Hey everyone!

Uhm. Wow. I'm new here, obviously, right? Anyway.
Uhm. My name is Joshua and I've been a Lucid dreamer for a while. I'd never thought of looking for a forum for it though, although now that I've come across this one I think I may make it a habit of mine.

I've only recently started actually journal-ing and cataloguing my dreams but, this has been with me for quite some time. So, I'd figured I'd tell about how it all started.

When I was young I had a lot of Deja-Vu. And re-occurring dreams. But they were different, the re-occurrings. It was same places, different people. Same actions, different places. I think this is what first clued me into the fact i was dreaming. I have names for some of these people. They're odd names, but... like. for instance, there's a girl I dream about often with one green eye and one brown. She introduced herself to me as 'copper' so...

ANYWAY. When I was young, I had this dream once that I was sweeping my left arm out over across a table to cross over my chest to the right. On the table was a tall glass pitcher of milk and I knocked it over, spilling it. It frustrated me to no end. I remember wanting very much not to spill it over. But the dream ended when I awoke, stressed and sweating. Frustrated.

I kept having this dream intermittently over the course of a few months. Then one time I actually ended up 're-winding' the dream. My arm swept back out across the table in reverse. THe pitcher and all the milk 're-wound' as well. But when I let the dream continue, I still knocked the pitcher over. But! I was able to rewind, again. So, I kept trying. I could NOT miss the pitcher no matter how hard I tried. But. I could keep going back to the beginning. Eventually I would wake up, stressed, sweating, and frustrated, again.

Then, one night. I did it. I rewound, and arced my arm over the pitcher. And missed it. I remember jumping around with glee in my dream. I awoke sweating, but satisfied.

Ever since that point, the moment I realize I am asleep, I can do anything it is I want. I've had lots of cinematic experiences. Epic fights with people I know and am frustrated with in real life, beautiful moments with others. I've re-lived harsh times in school, but had the ability to control every aspect of the conflict. I've hurled boulders, and flown with newly sprouted wings. I've leapt over my city to the next one over.

There's a strange caveat to all this, thought.
The moment I'm aware that I will die, in my dream, I lose all control. I sometimes wonder if I'm controlling it to happen, without knowing, because I know that I am going to die, but I can't do anything to stop it.

It gets kind of freaky for me, here, too. I've died in so many strange and twisted ways. Hanging, Shooting, Stabbing, drowning, burning, mauled by a bear, eaten alive by a giant cat, fried in a massive skillet, etc, etc etc.
      And I know I'm dreaming, but I can't overcome them. I can't stop them. I can't rewind... I dunno.

Also. I can read. I dunno what the consensus is, around here for that, but I can read. I've never tried a book. But a sign, or poster, or sometimes I dream about the net. I have noticed that the words and phrases change. But I definately SEE the words.

I've come to prefer my dreams to reality, sometimes. I fear I'm a bit depressed. And actually, when I'm in an overall good mood, I rarely remember my dreams.

Otherwise, I'll remember them for months. Years.
I remember a large number of my Deja-Vus.

I'm not claiming psychic ability or anything. If I could PROVE IT beyond a shadow of a doubt, I'd try to claim the million dollars. But I have had dreams come out exactly as they happened, and I was aware that they were happening as they happened. In my dreams, I know that something weird is happening and I try to remember what, then I realize it's happened before, but i dreamt it. Days, weeks, months later, when it happens, or perhaps something incredibly similar, I recall it. And become as confused as I was when I dreamt it, until I realize when it's happening. I've also predicted sentances. But that could be a number of things. And I suppose I've gone on long enough.

So, yeah. I'm Joshua. I'm a Lucid Dreamer, and I never really knew what that meant until about... a year or so ago?

I was talking to a friend at work, and it came up. He pointed out that the phenomenon was called 'Lucid Dreaming' then. I had no idea.

Anyway, it's good to be here. I'll be sure to post up some of my dreams. Prolly start off with some of my firsts.

Sorry if this is one of those TLR posts or whatever. But. I try to be as descriptive and accurate as possible. I think it's what makes me so aware of my dreaming. I have an attention to detail. Of course, they're only the details I want to be aware of, ultimately I think. BUt... alas.

      Take care, and good dreaming!

      First of all, to DreamViews!

I'm amazed that you can already lucid dream at a good rate and you have good dream recall, and the awareness to notice things around your dream, making you lucid. Your attentiveness will aid you in lucid dreaming more

You can make your deja vu's and reoccurring dreams into a dreamsign, so, if you notice a deja vu, you might think, "Oh hey I'm dreaming!" I've never really experienced horrible deaths in dreams, nor would I want to experience one. But I do lose control if my life is doomed.
People say that the words are blurry in dreams, but I guess we're the same, we can see and read words and phrases.

This community is fun and active (I'm a passive reader btw), so hope you enjoy your stay here!

      Thank you for the welcome.

Gosh, I'm glad to run into someone so soon who also can read words. I've told people that I could, before and they get angry with me and tell me that I really can't. Or that I'm lying. I wish I could put them in my head!

And yeah. As soon as i realize I'm dreaming, that's when everything changes.
But... I'm not really so interested in making them happen on purpose? When they happen, they happen. Mostly I have very vivid dreams. And I've been telling my friends about them, and they said I should make stories about them. I have very long, elaborate ones. So, recently people have been telling me to make them stories. And then I got the idea of doing some webcomics. I wanted to see if any had been done, before, so I searched it out, but found this place, instead.

      It seems fun.

      Thank you, again!
      -Joshua
