      New!

Hello, i am new to DV, but i find everything that i read here to be very intriguing! Hehe. Its interesting, When i dream, i am aware that i am dreaming, but i cant controll it. I guess by practicing on dream recall and reality checks i will get better with it eventually!

I’m new to this group also, its very cool isn’t it!

Keep us updated on attaining your lucidity, there are many hidden levels to discover beyond being aware in your dreams.

I’m sure you will take the next step up the invisible ladder.

Just keep repeating a mantra at first, one you design yourself, something like
      “is this all a dream”?
"I was looking back to see if you were looking back at me to see me looking back at you".

Hey Blisboy - Welcome To DreamViews

You probably already know all this, but lucid dreaming has 3 distinct steps to achieving it : (1) recall, (2) awareness (3) control
According to this, your recall might need a little tweaking, but you already have the awareness (2)
So your main problem is unrelated to recall (Although recall is always good to work on)

In terms of dream control, you're probably making it harder than it has to be.
Its all about belief, and controlling your expectations.
      Everything else is irrelevant

Practice it with things like summoning - turn around and *expect* to find something different there
Keep doing it until you get a feel for it.

One technique that may help you (but don't let it become a crutch), is the idea of 'shortcuts'
For example, lets say you can't summon something, but you can see a microwave nearby
Walk up to the microwave and believe that the object you want is inside it. Open it and find it. Then afterwards, remember to remind yourself that the microwave and the object is all in your head - the microwave was irrelevant. Its not there. Like the spoon in the matrix . The microwave becomes a shortcut to what you want, but it teaches you to not need it later - because its just something to make the expectation of it easier

Another example - flying. You can't fly, but you look behind you, and find a jetpack. You put on the jetpack, and soar into the sky.
Then think 'Wait a sec. this jetpack is a figment of imagination and can't do anything. I dont need it! I'm flying by myself, this is all part of my mind'
Take off the jetpack, and continue flying.
      The jetpack was the shortcut.
If you suck at summoning a jetpack, try reaching into your pocket for a 'flying pill'. It might be a little easier

      [EDIT]
I've been thinking if there is a way to practice this sort of mind exercise in the waking world... and the only thing I could come up with is telekinesis. Of course most of the people on this site dont believe in it, but I do (since I can do it)

Anyone have a more sensible waking world exercise for learning expectation?
Perhaps daydreaming may help, and practicing in there

That is very interesting Placebo, you have an excellent way of explaining techniques without sounding pretentious (unlike 80% of people)
I love the idea about the microwave, you can create anything within it, like the Star Trek's Hollow deck. Your imagination has to be open.
I printed it off and pasted it onto my dream journal if you don’t mind

Its interesting to say that as I was thinking about nightmares, its over complication that makes people Stressed
I remember the line in the movie Dune when the main character puts his hand in the box and says "the only thing to fear is fear itself"

I’m going to try that flying technique as I haven’t yet been able to control flying, i usually think about it but end up focusing to hard on levitation.

      Thanks
