It can definitely affect your dreams and recall depending on what drug you use and how much of it. There are so many factors that it's impossible to pinpoint exactly what effects it will have on you.

I'm pretty sure it suppresses REM sleep, so its not to good if you want to remember dreams. But, if you smoke some pot, for a few days, and then stop you will probably remember dreams somewhat better, because of the lack of THC.

yeah, i'm becoming an ex-pothead because of lucid dreaming. I found that only once I had a lucid dream on a day I smoked, and a sucky one at that. For me, smoking weed makes it very hard to induce lucid dreaming. I'm not sad though, it's the best motivation to stop smoking I've ever come across.

Pot can also be used in a positive way to induce lucid dreaming due to something called REM rebound. Your brain will compensate for the lost REM sleep when the THC wears off. This will make dreaming more intense, which will also make it easier to become lucid. Same goes for alcohol.

although there's been a number of threads on this, for most people pot hurts recall but increases vividness (i.e. I smoked a good bit yesterday and last nightI had an extremely vivid (lucid) dream, but with shaky recall of it.) Smoking earlier helps against the recall effects, they will be significantly less if it;s worn off well before you go to bed.

It tends to diminish your recall, but unless you're really heavy into pot, it shouldn't make much of a difference, I've had some wild dreams high and drunk.

Now it is pretty hard for me to get a lucid dream. I think I only had them because of the REM rebound when I stopped smoking. And now that I haven't smoked for a week I haven't had one yet! It's ironic that I quit smoking weed to have more lucid dreams, when it was actually the main reason I was having them.

This makes little to no sense. I don't think the vividness can increase if the recall decreases. That would rarely occur. Also, you said this is for most people. I think by this you mean youself... on this one occasion you just talked about.

now for the facts. for MOST people, pot decreases the ability to recall dreams well. Also, it will decrease the chances of becoming lucid for most people. by most, i mean almost all.

But, for ***some*** special rare true stoners like myself. with many many years of smoking every hour, it doesn't affect dreams at all.

I imagine you think it doesn't affect your dreams at all. But if you have been doing it for many many years every hour, how do you know what it would be like without any thc in your system? I mean it's only been 7 days since my last high and I have been filled with so much energy. 7 days ago I just thought it was my body chemistry, not the drug.. and that's after being a stoner for only 2 years.

I guess it's possible for my dream recall to get better, but I don't know. It's pretty good. I remember 3 or so dreams EVERY night. Sometimes more. Also, 4-5 nights of the week i'll have lucid dreams. Usually several lucids in each of those nights. wel... it's usually more in the morning, after i've been sleeping for a little while.

Idk... maybe I should try to take a break and see. I'm addicted to pot though and it's hard to stop.

wow michael that is amaazzzing recall & lucid frequency. I imagine if you stopped it could only get better! The only reason I tried stopping was to be at your status, I wonder how good you could get!
