      Hey everyone,
my name is Evan, and I'm new to the forum, as well as to the concept of lucid dreaming.
A little about me: I'm 19, I live in Calgary, and am in my 2nd year at university. I first found this site a couple of weeks ago, and lurked about for a while! The first night I came here, I read about all of the techniques, etc. and was very intrigued. As has happened with a few people on here, I had my first semi-LD the next morning! It was such a fantastic feeling, so fantastic in fact that I woke up immediately, of course. I remember thinking to myself, "Wait a minute, I'm not in the family room, I'm downstairs having a nap with my girlfriend! This is a dream!" So naturally, I tried to prove it. I started dancing around and moving my feet really quickly. It was quite an extraordinary feeling. I got so excited that I woke up, and my g/f said I was kicking her! Funny stuff. Anyway, I haven't had any success since then. I was wondering, could I have just been "dreaming" that I was LD'ing?
Anyway, last week, after doing some more reading here, I went out and bought some peppermint tea, to have right before bed. I've been drinking it every night before sleep, and have remembered up to 3 or 4 dreams a night since then! I'm also keeping a dream journal which I've read helps a lot.
As for different techniques, I've tried a bit of WILD, but have had no success. I can't seem to keep myself conscious as my body falls asleep. I find that if I feel my body falling asleep, I will become excited and a rush of adrenaline will surge through me, and thus I am not not relaxed.
I'm always too out of it for MILD, and never remember to do it when I wake during the night.
I'm doing my damndest to LD, and I hope I'm on the right track!

Anyhow, you all seem like nice folks and I look forward to discussion with you.

      evan.
