      Smile Hello! :] Few Q's..

Hey everyone :] So, basically I was interested in LD months back... never really got into it, but whilst looking through the appstore on Apple, I found a binaural app that has lucid dreaming.. so I thought, what the heck.. let's try it out :] So last night I played it.. I woke up a lot in the middle of the night..is that because I'm not used to the switching frequencies yet? I did have one dream that I can recall though, which is unusual because I can't remember remembering a dream in a long long time! But in that dream.. It wasn't exactly lucid.. I mean, this might not make sense but, I tried to do something that wouldn't be right for me to do in real life, so I decided not to do it.

Anyway, I just realized this.. but when I was a really really little kid, I LD a lot somehow..for example I remember when aliens attacked my house, and I just all of a sudden thought "this is a dream, nothing to be scared about!" And basically I tried to tell all the 'characters' in the dream that it was just a dream! It's weird I remember this because I think it could have been my first LD! Also when I was a young kid I remember closing my eyes in my dreams so that I could wake up, is this LD?

Also, I'm having a bit of trouble... so a dream sign is something that recurs in your dreams? Also, when you do a reality check, do you want these things to be deformed (8 fingers, no electricity working etc.)? If they are does that mean I'm in a LD, or not..?

Thanks a lot! Can't wait to find out more!

No if you have eight fingers you are not in a dream, just wanted to clarify that.

Just remembered when I was a kid I levitated a swing in my backyard in a dream... looks like I've done a lot of LD without even knowing I have!

I'm still a big newbie here too so don't quote me on any of this but as far as I can tell from reading some of the tutorials and other forums, a dream sign is something that only happens when you're dreaming. For example, flying. When you're dreaming, you accept these things because the logic center in your brain is turned off. One of the big steps towards lucid dreaming is recognizing a dream sign. Once you can recognize dream signs, then you can start discerning when you are dreaming (if you notice a dream sign, you know you're dreaming).
From what I've read, the two best methods to help you recognize your dream signs are to a) keep a dream journal so that you can look back and see what your most common dream signs are, and b) reality checks (asking yourself if you're dreaming at least 21 times per day). Frequent reality checks will eventually lead to a reality check while dreaming. If your brain manages to subconsciously check whether or not its dreaming while it is, then hopefully it will also recognize a dream sign and then you'll know you're dreaming.
      hope this helps

Nope, the Alien dream you described is a Lucid Dream. Lucid Dreaming = Knowing you are dreaming; being conscious of the dream state.

Yes. It can also be what pyrodemon mentioned; something that only happens in dreams, such as flying.

Unless you pick up on the fact that you are dreaming because your hand has 8 fingers, etc., then no, it's not a Lucid Dream.
