Well, the only reason you can't spin or face your fears is because you think you can't. If you know something is true in a dream then it will happen. I'm going to reference a segment from Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming. In one segment, Dr. Stephen Leberge provided a scenario:
You're walking down a street at night in a dream. It's very dark. Across the street, illuminated by a streetlight, you see a man in a dark hoodie. You think "Oh no, a mugger!" Before you know it, he's already at you, hurting you and taking your money. Now, if we rewind a little to the point where you first see the man. Instead of thinking "Oh no, a mugger!", you think "That must be my friend Jack. We're going to a concert tonight, and he's bringing the tickets." In this case, he would walk up to you, give you your ticket, and you'd have a jolly time at the concert.
Moral is, if you know or expect something to happen, it will. This is the basis for dream control, and with practice you can use it to do whatever you want. Your only limit is your imagination.
Edit: This is an apostrophe ' and this is an accent `. Please press the left Ctrl and Shift keys together twice. Sorry, it was annoying me
