And no, this isn't one of those "who makes the best posts?" trolling topics, I despise that as much as you (hopefully) do.

I've joined this forum because I've been having a string lucid and lucid-type dreams, recently; more than ever, in fact. It's been interesting and wonderful, but they've raised important questions about my life. I understand that dreams aren't necessarily telling me anything, as most of the time, they're just a series of random visual and audible cues. However, being human, I've interpreted some as meaningful.

One thing that has recently been fascinating me is the actual (and very real) acknowledgment of physical sensations; the sexual, the painful or the benign, like an itchy back or nose.

In the past, I've had sexual sensations in dreams, but they've felt more real, recently, which, of course, is nothing to complain about. Other physical sensations, however, that were rare in the past, are now prevalent.

My most recent dreams are good examples of this: The first I'll mention is a dream about me hanging out with a bunch of people in what appeared to be an urban environment, a bit like Brooklyn, but something in the dream insisted it was a much smaller community than Brooklyn, NY; in fact, it was in a totally different state. It wasn't specified, but I just knew. Anyway, the dream started off with me wanting to snort some cocaine with these people, but I was well aware that I had just met them through a girl, and I wasn't about to strain any etiquette by helping myself to their drugs. After hanging with them for a bit, I left and travelled to a store, where I began to check out some really old video game cartridges and hand-held systems in a plastic crate. I guess they were used, because they were pretty cheap. Then, an older couple came up to me, and started, like, almost congratulating me on checking out these old games. I was pretty confused, but I took it with a smile. Then, suddenly, the girl that brought me to the loft, earlier, came up behind me and kissed me on my neck. I felt that amazing tingle I always get when a girl kisses me on my neck in that special spot (in the waking world), and, through blushing and all that, I awoke with that sensation still very real. It was incredible in its subtlety and in its romantic aspect.

The second example is a bit more bizarre, and I'll try to be brief. I was hanging out with some friends (who actually exist), and we were considering going out onto the town during the afternoon. Even though we had planned it altogether, they disappeared after I left the apartment (which didn't concern me at all). I travelled down the street and saw a building that housed like, a pot shop or something. Anyway, I went in there and met up with an Asian girl, who was showing me around. At that point, I put my backpack and jacket in the hallway and left the building the shop was in. Then, realizing I had left my stuff, tried to get back in. The building was totally locked down. Then, the landlord (I presume) came up to me and asked me if I wanted to go back in. I explained my situation and he obliged. I went in and, after walking up and down some stairs, came into a subway station. It was at this point that I felt a sharp, biting sensation on my neck (in the dream). I began to scratch at it until it began actually hurt. Somehow, I felt I had almost dug a hole into my neck, and I began to feel a little self-conscious. I began walking towards a train and immediately woke up, with that pain still in the area of my neck. However, when I checked in the mirror, there was no sign of my scratching it or a bite or anything. In fact, I can still sort of feel it lingering, as faint as it is.

My point is, I've been having dreams where these sensations follow me into the waking world, and it's been fascinating, because it's almost like I've tapped into an alternate reality that physically affects me here, in this one, not unlike the theoretical dimensions that exist within and without our universe, according to theoretical physicists. I'm a skeptic and an atheist, so I don't see anything spiritual or metaphysical about these experiences, and I'm wholly rounded in the materialistic aspects of dreams and consciousness, but it doesn't mar the experience in anyway. It's just as incredible and intriguing as it would be to someone who believes in that stuff.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this new-found dream detail, and I'm sorry for the length of it all.

      Cheers!

P.S. Yes, there seems to be a motif of drug use, but trust me, it's rarer than you think, although I quite enjoy it when I do drugs in dreams, especially those that I don't do, at all, as my mind imagines the effects of those drugs without any concrete evidence to know how they really would affect me. Those sensations, much more abstract than the physical, sometimes follow me into the waking world, but it's rare.
