      My Guide?

I think I have found my DG with out dreaming it. It is hard to explain by i will try. When I read 'The golden compass' I wanted to create my own fake Daemon. I started with names. Making up weird, mixed names. One of the first that came to mind was Dustrex. (Dus-trecks) I did not like it and tryed to think of a new one. I however could not get that name out of my head. So I said, "Okay, It is Dustrex. But what kind of animal is Dustrex?" Imeadiately a picture Lynx-like animal popped in my head. It was disapointing as I am a dog person. But, again, It seamed so right... So Dustrex the male Lynx-type animal is like my guide. He had yet to apear in my dreams. Or one I recall. But I have 'conversations' with him. I think of him and ask him questions. I think of the answers but they come so quickly and naturally I find it hard to think of them as my own thoughts. I also imagine him moving around, and he never changes. I have had many imagineary friends. But, Dustrex feels different. Does this make sense?

It is my opinion that dream guides, like any imagined figure, cannot possibly exist in any kind of mystical sense. All mental constructs are invented, and lack inherent reality. Which is not to say that they cannot surprise one - it is almost inevitable that they will, since you are conversing with yourself using a viewpoint different from your own. So, it makes sense to me; I do it all the time. Avoid superstitious thinking, and it can be a useful practice.

As a method of inducing lucid dreams, I see no reason why the character-induced-lucid-dream route shouldn't work, but think that, unless you have some innate knack for it, it might require a fair amount of work to get results from.

Okay. I think I get where your comming from. DGs are just figments of your imagination/sub-con and not beings. Dustrex is nothing special. Just a character of my fantasys. Nothing more.

Even though I like to think of him as more I will use your advice to keep my feet on the ground. Thanks very much. It means alot to me.
