So I said, "Okay, It is Dustrex. But what kind of animal is Dustrex?" Imeadiately a picture Lynx-like animal popped in my head. It was disapointing as I am a dog person. But, again, It seamed so right... So Dustrex the male Lynx-type animal is like my guide. He had yet to apear in my dreams. Or one I recall. But I have 'conversations' with him. I think of him and ask him questions. I think of the answers but they come so quickly and naturally I find it hard to think of them as my own thoughts. I also imagine him moving around, and he never changes. I have had many imagineary friends. But, Dustrex feels different. Does this make sense?
It is my opinion that dream guides, like any imagined figure, cannot possibly exist in any kind of mystical sense. All mental constructs are invented, and lack inherent reality. Which is not to say that they cannot surprise one - it is almost inevitable that they will, since you are conversing with yourself using a viewpoint different from your own. So, it makes sense to me; I do it all the time. Avoid superstitious thinking, and it can be a useful practice.
As a method of inducing lucid dreams, I see no reason why the character-induced-lucid-dream route shouldn't work, but think that, unless you have some innate knack for it, it might require a fair amount of work to get results from.
