      Dreams inside dreams

So I just stumbled across this site, and it piqued my interest. I've skimmed a fair amount of the site, since I've always found lucid dreaming facinating. Honestly I don't have any desire to wake up in the middle of the night to make dream journal entries, but I occasionaly naturally remember my dreams.

I also occasionally (~2-3 times a year) have naturally lucid dreams, and these tend to become ingrained in my memory.

Anyhow, in one of my most memorable dreams (partly because it was disturbing and partly because it was semi-lucid) I decided it would be a good idea to rob convience stores, so I wasnt on a crime spree. After I had robbed a couple of stores I shot one of the clerks. This upset me considerably and I then realised I was dreaming, I returned home and fell asleep, all while dreaming. When I awoke (still asleep in real life) I found my self running from the police since I had shot a convieniece store worker the day before. This cycled two or three times before a actually woke up.

I was wondering if anyone else had had similar dream within a dream experiences, and wheather or not this was common.

As a side note I think I was a bit stressed when I had this dream, I think it was mid-term time in college.

I've had plenty of stress-filled dreams. It sounds like you were experiencing FAs (false awakenings). Often you can use those to induce lucidity, but it's sometimes hard to tell that you're still dreaming.

Anyway, welcome to DV! I hope you enjoy your stay and if you have any questions feel free to ask

After poking around a bit more and reading a bit about flase awakinings I would tend to agree that that is what I experienced. Since I have occasionally experienced lucid dreams but only once or twice experienced a flase awakining it was, esp. coupled within the context of the dream, slightly unnerving. The odd thing about this was that I think my dream extended through three or four days, with each "day" beginning with a flase awakining.

One of my more unique dreams to be sure.
