Hey there DVers. I'm not sure if this question actually belongs in the newbie zone, but I'm new to the site so I figured the respectful thing to do would be to post it here. My question is specifically about WILDs, and how they affect rest. I'll use the WBTB archetype for this example.

Say I go to bed at 9:00, wake up at 3:00, spend an hour awake, and then have a textbook WILD for another two hours. This accounts for a full eight hours of sleep. From what I've read about WILDs, your body does it's normal thing once SP is induced, but your mind is awake upon entering your REM cycle, thus allowing you to be consciously take part in your dream.

So what about rest? Are those two hours WILDing still valid sleep, even though the mind is technically awake? I know that your REM cycle is vital part of your sleep cycle. From what I've gathered, we need REM so your brain can go through the events of the day, and sort what information is important enough to be stored, and what can be discarded. I know that in the initial six sleeping hours in the example I listed, your body will have already gone through a few REM cycles, but what I am curious about is weather I'm more likely to feel as if I've gotten six or eight hours of rest. Perhaps somewhere in between? I'd love to hear from some people who have some experience WILDing.

I apologize in advance if this issue has been addressed elsewhere on the forum, or if it is improperly categorized. If this is the case, feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to migrate or remove this thread as necessary.
