Having had three lucid dreams in the late nineties, I am trying to get it going again with reality checks, waking for an hour at 4AM, thinking and reading about lucid dreaming, dream journal, before-sleep suggestion. |

Yes. Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen Laberge was the one that let the cat out of the bag for all of us. It was published in 1991 and, by the time I bought it in Harvard Square around 1997, it was something I had heard of before and it seemed to have been around a while. It seems to me or, I should say, for me, interest in lucid dreaming came out of interest in the dreaming practices described by Carlos Casteneda in his series of books which I read while going to Rhode Island School of Design in the early-mid 70s. I believe I ran across "Exploring..." just by chance while in that New Age bookstore in Harvard Sq in 1997. But, instead of roaming on to the next shelf, because of the keyword dreaming and my recall of the Casteneda descriptions, I pulled the book off the shelf and started checking it out. Glad I did. Lucky find. |
