      Question

Hey everyone, I am 13 years old and am looking to practice lucid dreaming... I am so scared. I have had a lucid dream before... but I had no control. The only control I had was making something 100% scary appear (if this was LD) I'm just afraid of when I become lucid, I will think the wrong thing on accident... beyond my control I will think up a zombie or someone dying or a ghost and I will just be scared to death. I really want to have an LD but I really don't know how and I am just scared out of my mind, is this normal at all? Please let me know.

I'm 13 too, and I am working on getting my first lucid dream as well. However, I don't really fear zombies and ghosts. For some reason, I get scared by "weirdness" so if I see random symbols and stuff, I might get scared. Just keep reminding yourself it's just a dream and you should be fine.

Thanks! But thats different I hate weird too... I get scared easily and this is crazy... I need a teacher I can't do this on my own... I'm excited but if I fly or something and then my mind just says fall or somethin cause my mind just thinks of the worst that can happen in a dream and it happens... I wonder if I have to REALLY want it to happen or something for it to happen. I hope so. I just want to experience it and then do it often... from what I've heard, It beats a vacation indefinately haha.

      Welcome

There's nothing to fear - its only a dream!
Lots of people here specifically create zombies - just so they can have fun defeating them Just as you can create a zombie - you can also create a chainsaw! Or you could don an anti-zombie suit, or create a zombie cure, or even simply fly away. But seriously, lucid dreaming is actually a great place to conquer your fears in safety. Some cultures who pratice lucid dreaming teach their kids that you absolutely must face your dream monsters - actually seek them out - then either ask them what they are doing in your dream - or utterly defeat them, and then ask them. This will help you understand where the fear is comming from. If you get really scared you will most likely wake up anyway. Personally I look forward to nightmares because they often spark lucidity.

If you have already had a lucid that's a great start - control will improve with practice. The imagination has no real limits except the ones we place on it.

      sweet dreams!

Oh, and shouldn't you be 14 to register?

      EDIT: make that 15

Thanks a bundle for the reply! That will help me alot. And should I be 14? If so I'm sorry I just really want to get involved and I am serious about lucidity. I wonder if they can make an acception... I'm not doing anything unacceptable, haha. Anyway, thanks again. You're right...

Do you think I can be rich in my dream? Like very rich? Or have a dream guide and some dream bodygaurds to protect me? That could be SO much fun! I would LOVE that! Thanks!

Why does there need to be a rule like that? I am sure the author of this post and I are mature enough to deal with everything posted here. Trust me, I'm an avid internet user and I've seen everything imaginable such as goatse, meatspin, etc

      Hi Aaron,

Just about everyone here has nightmares every once in a while. But, after you've spent some time watching how your dreams work -- even if they aren't lucid -- you'll learn not to be afraid. Read through some of the dream journals and tutorials here on the site until you are good and ready to start. You'll see that there is so much fun stuff to do, it's definitely worth jumping right in!

I agree with slimslow. It is only a dream. Maybe a great dream --> but it's in your head, you're the boss, and you can learn to do whatever you wish in your dreams.
This lucid dream has encountered a fatal error! Reboot? [Y/N]

I don't know - it seems like most people here are 13!

Not sure I want to know what goatse and meatspin are.

Let's not get into those types of sites. I feel confident now... Is there anything else I need to do to prepare for lucid dreaming? Or am I ready when i realize it? I need like a LD mentor. I'll pay anyone to help me... this is... wow I never knew that such a world could exist.

Just as a question... How often do you actuallly REMEMBER a lucid dream? How well do you remember it if you do?

Sorry if I am being a pest I just have SO many questions haha

It depends. Have you been keeping a dream journal? If so, you should have no problem remembering it.

A good way to increase your memory of your dreams is to write them down every night in a journal.

Well I'm 14... Anyway. Just take a look at the main site, and also maybe the Lucid Dreaming Quick Start tutorial. I peronally haven't had any LDs yet but I have been keeping a journal. Remember, if you wake up and can only remember the part right before you woke up, right it down, and you'll remember the rest. Don't get discouraged.

Sleep paralysis is typically only that terrifying when you don't know what's happening, and when it happens as you wake up. According to most accounts, when you enter sleep paralysis while attempting a WILD, (and this doesn't even always happen for some people) and you are aware that all the symptoms are harmless, it's rare for anything to happen more terrifying than a sense of falling or vibration to occur, and even these aren't particularly scary when you know they're normal.

Everytime! They are usually mindblowing so there's no problem remembering them. But wait... I guess I wouldn't know if I'd forgotten

I've never had SP as such, or rather I've never noticed it, even when WILDing, I think its because I'm focussing on the imagry? But Serith is right - it suppose it would be scary if you didnt know what was going on.

I didn't bother reading all the replies because im tired and woke up not too long ago, and while im sure a lot of people told you theres nothing to fear because its just a dream, ill reinforce that....through the power of example!

I had a lucid dream last night (a few hours ago) and i was in an unfamiliar bedroom, it was dark outside and there were shadows watching me through the windows, then there was also a shadow that extended on the floor in front of me, a somewhat alien shape and it had an odd high-pitched laugh. I was terrified and first, but then rmembered i was dreaming and said "come in here ill knock your ****ing teeth out", needless to say it ran away

So, in conclusion of my lame story, you've really just got to try and "remember" that youre lucid when you get there (i cant tell you how many times ive forgotten, or just said "meh, im too tired to do stuff in this LD", or weird things like that), because if you remember your lucid you can come face to face with these fears and try to find out what you're subconscious wants to tell you, or if you really want you can just spin yourself to a happier place, whatever floats your boat.

i feel the same as drizzt - from what ive heard about SP you get all kinds of scary HI, especially if you think about it (which i wont be able to not do), im worried that if i see something that scares me (succubus etc) i might get put off trying to WILD again

How do you make yourself have a lucid dream? That sounds interesting.

      Question about SP and sleep?

About the age thing... I am 13 also. I think you used to have to be fifteen to sign up but now, the rule is that if you are UNDER 13 you need a parents permission to register.

But I'm sorry I can't be much help about anything else. Though, you dont need to be afraid of SP. I dont know about you, but I'm one of those people who has a very boring SP experience. I usually don't even realize it's happening.
