      favorite song lyrics

      lyrics that represent you best?

      NIN: heresy

he flexed his muscles to keep his flock of sheep in line
he made a virus that would kill off all the swine
his perfect kingdom of killing, suffering and pain
demands devotion atrocities done in his name

      The Faint: glass danse

maybe i feel detatched, i may just look too shy,
      it's a disinterest not that i'm a timid guy.
i call them bodies but, they are attentive too,
i feel the social glare i feel the attitude.

      Deftones: lifter

      Watch me
      With your eyes
      (Believe in, been giving) God
      A pedophile
      I want to
      Be just like you
      Then I'd be cool
      Maybe not

      Pink Floyd: brain damage

And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

      Tool: eulogy

      Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice so strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade cuz I'm so
      Eager to identify with
      Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same,
Someone prepared to lead the way, with
Someone who would die for me.

      lets hear em.
      clear eyes. strong hands.

      RHCP - Save The Population
      RHCP - Road Trippin
      Aphex Twin - Windowlicker (hehe)

I have many, here is one:

      The Prisioner - Iron Maiden

On the run kill to eat
You're starving now you're dead on your feet
Going all the way nature's beast
Do what I want as I please

Run fight to breathe it's tough
Now you see me now you don't
Break the walls I'm coming out

      Not a prisoner I'm a free man
And my blood is my own now
Don't care where the past was
      I know where I'm going ... out

If you kill me it's self defence
If I kill you then I call it vengeance
Spit in your eye I will defy
You'll be afraid when I call out your name

      I'm not a number I'm a free man
I'll live my life how I want to
You'd better scratch me from your black book
Cos I'll run rings round you
      Early Morning Moment,
      A Glimpse of Joy,
But soon it's Over, and I return to Dust...

At the risk of creeping you all out, Prison Sex by Tool always made me very emotional because it was like he put my childhood into music. It's something akin to what I would have written. As for a song that 'represents' me today, I'm not really sure. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is The Way Out is Through by NIN:

      underneath it all
      we feel so small
      the heavens fall
      but still we crawl
      all i've undergone
      i will keep on

      Damn right.

Me too. It's a very powerful song, and I tend to favor music that makes me feel somehow.

any lyric slug lays down impresses me
There's good and evil in each individual fire
identifies needs and feeds our desires
as long as we keep our spirit inspired
she can bite her bottom lip all she wants

      Emperor has some awsome lyrics.

Am I blessed or am I cursed by thy presence...
      What is my crime...
      What is my deed...
      Is this life my redemption
      Shall I repent or proceed

      I hate my flesh
It's dimension poisoned my soul with doubt
It made me question the essence of...
      The "I"

Slaves are those of this world
Given freedom to lay chains upon The Master
The wolf is no longer free
Release the chains and come for me..

      Lyrics that Inspire Me

      Aaliyah - Try Again

If at first you dont succeed, dust your self off and try again.

      Nas - I can

I know I can, I know I can be what I wanna be, be what I wanna be. If I work hard at it, ill be where I wanna be.

I was trying to find a thread where I can post this cause I didn't want to make a new thread for it.

Got to love this song....really got to me last night.

I never thought. I'd die alone.
I laughed the loudest who'd have known?
I trace the cord back to the wall No wonder it was never plugged in at all.
I took my time, I hurried up The choice was mine I didn't think enough.
I'm too depressed to go on. You'll be sorry when I'm gone

I never conquered, rarely came 16 just held such better days.
Days when I still felt alive We couldn't wait to get outside The world was wide, too late to try The tour was over we'd survived I couldn't wait till I got home To pass the time in my room alone

I never thought. I'd die alone.
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to all my friends You'll never set foot in my room again.
You'll close it off, board it up Remember the time that I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall. Please tell mom this is not her fault

I never conquered, rarely came But tomorrow holds such better days. Days when I can still feel alive. When I can't wait to get outside The world is wide, the time goes by The tour is over, I've survived I can't wait till I get home To pass the time in my room alone.

      I would say it's Linkin Park's "Somewhere I Belong" They're Deep.

      "Somewhere I Belong"

      (When this began)
      I had nothing to say
And I get lost in the nothingness inside of me
      (I was confused)
And I let it all out to find/
That I’m not the only person with these things in mind
      (Inside of me)
But all the vacancy the words revealed
Is the only real thing that I’ve got left to feel
      (Nothing to lose)
      Just stuck/ hollow and alone
And the fault is my own, and the fault is my own

      [Chorus]
I wanna heal, I wanna feel what I thought was never real
I wanna let go of the pain I’ve felt so long
(Erase all the pain till it’s gone)
I wanna heal, I wanna feel like I’m close to something real
I wanna find something I’ve wanted all along
      Somewhere I belong

And I’ve got nothing to say
I can’t believe I didn’t fall right down on my face
      (I was confused)
      Looking everywhere only to find
That it’s not the way I had imagined it all in my mind
      (So what am I)
What do I have but negativity
’Cause I can’t justify the way, everyone is looking at me
      (Nothing to lose)
Nothing to gain/ hollow and alone
And the fault is my own, and the fault is my own

      [Repeat Chorus]

I will never know myself until I do this on my own
And I will never feel anything else, until my wounds are healed
I will never be anything till I break away from me
I will break away, I'll find myself today

      [Repeat Chorus]

I wanna heal, I wanna feel like I’m somewhere I belong
I wanna heal, I wanna feel like I’m somewhere I belong
      Somewhere I belong

My Friends - Red Hot Chili Peppers

      My friends are so depressed
I feel the question of your loneliness
Confide...'cause I'll be on your side
You know I will, you know I will

      Ex-girlfriend called me up
Alone and desperate on the prison phone
They want to give her seven years
      For being sad

      I love all of you
      Hurt by the cold
      So hard and lonely too
      When you don't know yourself

      My friends are so distressed
And standing on the brink of emptiness
No words I know of to express
      This emptiness

      I love all of you
      Hurt by the cold
      So hard and lonely too
      When you don't know yourself

      Imagine me, taught by tragedy
      Release is peace

      I heard a little girl
And what she said was something beautiful
To give your love no matter what
      Is what she said

      I love all of you
      Hurt by the cold
      So hard and lonely too
      When you don't know yourself

On a television screen, visions of hatred *
      Unlessed and decieved *
A man lashes out, his fistful of anger so caught up in his own beliefs *
The revolution will be televised *
This time around it will be bought and soaked *
      Don't switch, don't shed it out *
The truth can hurt, but now it must be told *

I hear voices lying, victims dying, mothers crying, in the street *
They won't stop lying, we won't stop trying *
We have to live a life of peace in this world *
Will you take the hand of ya fellow man, in this world *
Only you believe what your eyes can see, in this world *
Will you take the hand of ya fellow man, in this world *
Only you believe what your eyes can see, in this world *

      This world *

A shot brings out on a busy street more chaos, destruction and dispair *
A crowd gathers there full of hate and fear, for a world that doesn't care *
There's refugees, the same as me, but just ahead in a future-time *
The differences a world finding never let to show us like mine *

I hear voices lying, victims dying, mothers crying in the street *
They won't stop lying, we won't stop trying *
We have to live a life of peace in this world *
Will you take the hand of ya fellow man, in this world *
Only you believe what your eyes can see, in this world *
Understand that is why we believe it's right, in this world *
Will you take the hand of ya fellow man, in this world *

There's a story talked about the risking for to find a better way *
We can sell money force, together strong, we'll reach up by the day *

Now if you can see how it's meant to be, there's a price to pay for a better day *
They won't stop lying, we won't stop trying *
We have to live a life of peace in this world *
Understand that is why we believe it's right, in this world *
Will you take the hand of ya fellow man, in this world *

i really like this song only oldies well know it though

      You Can Call Me Al

A man walks down the street
He says why am I soft in the middle now
Why am I soft in the middle
The rest of my life is so hard
      I need a photo-opportunity
I want a shot at redemption
Don’t want to end up a cartoon
      In a cartoon graveyard
      Bonedigger bonedigger
      Dogs in the moonlight
      Far away my well-lit door
      Mr. beerbelly beerbelly
Get these mutts away from me
You know I don’t find this stuff amusing anymore
      If you’ll be my bodyguard
I can be your long lost pal
      I can call you betty
And betty when you call me
      You can call me al

A man walks down the street
He says why am I short of attention
Got a short little span of attention
And wo my nights are so long
      Where’s my wife and family
      What if I die here
      Who’ll be my role-model
      Now that my role-model is
      Gone gone
He ducked back down the alley
With some roly-poly little bat-faced girl
      All along along
      There were incidents and accidents
      There were hints and allegations

      If you’ll be my bodyguard
I can be your long lost pal
      I can call you betty
And betty when you call me
      You can call me al
      Call me al

A man walks down the street
      It’s a street in a strange world
      Maybe it’s the third world
Maybe it’s his first time around
      He doesn’t speak the language
      He holds no currency
      He is a foreign man
He is surrounded by the sound
      The sound
      Cattle in the marketplace
      Scatterlings and orphanages
      He looks around, around
He sees angels in the architecture
      Spinning in infinity
      He says amen! and hallelujah!

      If you’ll be my bodyguard
I can be your long lost pal
      I can call you betty
And betty when you call me
      You can call me al
      Call me al

For all of you that hate on trance and other electronic genre's, obviously, havent heard good meaningful trance/Electronica. Honestly, it's not always the volume of the lyrics but the way in which its arranged and how the sounds capture the feeling, that matters. In my opinion, trance and other electronic genre's do a service where most pop songs fall short. Overall most pop songs are really out there just as an insult to the title- music, made solely on and for, money. Heres a few personal favorites from one of the best mix cd's I've ever heard (being a DJ and composer that takes alot to say), Ferry Corstens- Infinite Euphoria, called that for good reason mind you. If you like these lyrics please give the double cd a whirl...The mix from (the theme song from the movie- 'Platoon', aka.) William Orbit's- Barber's Adagio for Strings (Ferry Corsten remix), into Prodigy's- Smack My Bitch Up is an amazing portrayal of a harmonious Light to Dark transition happening all at once...mind you no backbeat to go from just an ambient string part

Young Parisians- U Write The Rules (Solarstone remix & Original)

      You write the rules,
      I play along.
      You read the lines,
      of your favorite song.

      You never listen,
      when I try to talk.
      Sometimes I fall,
      when I try to walk.

      You left me here,
      outside in the rain.
      I want to feel,
      the sunshine on my face.

      Some people try,
      to keep the upper hand.
      If you dont try,
      you'll never understand.

      U write the rules (repeat)

Howard Jones- Just Look At You Now (the dba mix)

Now look me in the eye you're gonna tell me straight,
did you find it hard to tell me everything?
I know somethings gonna get entertained,
      but they wont,
      if you dont,
lift a finger to help them.

Whats the point in taking this human form,
If we cant understand the point of living with it?
No one ever wants to live alone,
      in a shameless world,
      with everyone and everything...

      (Chorus)
Heeey, just look at you now
      riding on a silver wave
      that keeps on going,
through the sun and through the rain,
through the good and the bad times,
through the joy and through the pain.
      Heeey, look at you now,
      see what you become
      see what you become

      I rest my case
