Post Why so many guests on Dream Views?

Most of the time that I'm on Dream Views I find that it says there are less than 10 registered users and hundreds of guests currently online. Why is it that the ratio of guests online to users is so slanted?? If your a guest that frequently visits this site can you consider registering so you can add your feedback to the Dream Views community? There is nothing wrong with being a guest it's just that if there were more users online then more people would be getting their questions answered and this community will thrive with everyone interacting with their questions and answers.

For the short time I've been on Dream Views I have seen it as being a nice community with lots of people willing to help each other, but this community can expand greatly in size if everyone who uses this website registers and contributes.

Well, I think your advice really only applies to lurkers, and who knows how many of the guests are viewing for the first time or just have a specific thing they're looking at and don't actively view the site on a regular basis and simply aren't signing up. Then there are people who happen to be viewing the site on a mobile device or at work but simply aren't signing in to think about. Having lots of guests is just a sign of having a popular website, it comes with the territory. I'm sure some of the guests are bots for google and other sites as well.

When a community is made up from people across the world, it simply makes sense for things to be this way. How many registered users happen to be online when you're asleep? How many are dedicated members that show up on a daily or even weekly basis, and how many aren't? What kind of jobs do they all have, and how does that affect the times they can actually log in and how does that influence site traffic? When are the larger waves of activity due to these factors? I know you're mostly just trying to be welcoming and everything, but you posed some questions too and hopefully some of them have been answered. The community is large, but they don't all have to login at the same time or for long periods of time for there to be activity, right? Unless you really pay attention to activity trends and whatnot, it's easy to think people aren't being all that active when there definitely is quite a bit of activity. That, and you say more questions can be answered, but how many questions do people have that haven't already been? Does the same question need to be asked several times by lots of different people? It's definitely a complex subject to talk about.

Yes, I see what you mean. Times zones are different all around the world and people go to/leave work at different times. And I have seen that most questions have been answered, but I also think that more people providing input to a question gives the asker multiple opinions. However, you definitely have some valid reasons that I didn't consider before posting this thread and I must agree now that the number of registered users online at any single moment is not a good measure of the Dream Views community, rather the number of questions that go unanswered/answer.
