Trying my hand at Garry's Mod (56 K is likely to ignite)

For those who don't know, Garry's Mod is a mod for Half Life 2 that lets you do damned near ANYTHING with the physics engine. Some people make 20+ panel comics with this.
      How it goes is...
You create the characters, ("Ragdolls," they're called) that you want. Then you create props or anything else you'll need, applying the correct properties to them, such as "no collide," so they'll be easy to interact with characters. Then, one body part at a time, you pose them in the correct way. I'm going to keep this thread bumped with whatever I create with this. I introduced this in chat, and others seemed interested, so... Here is what I've created so far.
This first one was just for fun, made to look like an FPS.

Next was after I found Day of Defeat models, and tried another. I DID put a muzzle flash on one P38, but I didn't time my screenshot well, as you can see...

The third is my next try with those models, I think it turned out okay... (Look CLOSELY at the doorway on the left)

In that doorway, there lies an AWFUL pose I made afterwards for no particular reason.

This one I like much more. I found some finger-posable models for this. (Surprisingly, most models in HL2 can't bend their fingers! So annoying...)

These I like a whole lot more. They turned out a lot better, in my opinion. They took about an hour, which is a testament to the time-wastefulness of Garry's Mod.

I didn't edit this next one, there's an option in-game to change the way the game renders colors.

Please post comments! Good, Bad, Hopeless?

How about good, bad, and hopeless. GOOD: the stuff you did with this Garry's Mod thing is pretty sweet, and some of it is really nice looking.

BAD: I'm not a big fan of ultra-bloody slaughterfest games, as I am bored of all this pointless violence (I'm not much of a gamer at all), so let's just say I wouldn't put these are my wallpaper for example.

HOPELESS: the fact that you actually wasted your time doing this is totally hopeless. (This isn't a bad thing or good thing, wasting time on pointless crap is fun, it's just still a waste of time).

Make some more of those and keep us posted. I find the idea of creating creative art from video game characters rather amusing, and enjoy seeing these.

Your wish is my command. I made these just now, took about a half hour.
These games aren't senseless bloodfests, in my opinion. That's why I never played Mortal Kombat. (Basically the bloodiest game ever, and it didn't have reason to be so.) The situations in the game depicted, Counter-Strike: Source, are about counterterrorisim.
      Here they are!

Now that I look at it, I really don't like the last image, but I wanted to convey the impact of the bullet, since as any Counter-Srike players know, the "AWP" (The weapon that's shown) can kill with a shot to the foot in-game. Still, I think it's improved from the others.
Again, questions, comments, complaints, critisizims are welcome.

I really don't have anyting against games like this, though I have to disagree about the not being senseless bloodfests thing. Those games are actually quite fun, it's just that I suck at videogames of almost any type (except jezzball), and am bored out of my wits with FPS's in general, as they are all the same game with a sligthly different plot if you ask me. I enjoy them, I'm just not into them at all as I get sick of dieing every 2 seconds.

I made two more, here they are. The first is a fast one made with Day of Defeat stuff again, I don' t think it's that good, but hopefully you guys aren't as critical as the members on the PHW forums .

Here's the real one, made with even more CSS stuff, also showing my distaste for AWP users.

Yep, I sure do hate those AWPs.

Oh god I remember Gary's. I wish I still had the pictures.

Best thing with CS though was doing a sniper line or getting people down to 1 HP and killing them with a flash or smoke grenade.

99.99% of the teenage population does or has tried smoking pot. If you have and you've enjoyed it, copy & paste this into your signature line. Everyone else, you're lying!

Hmm, I'm at 512 kbps and it still takes ages. I'm too impatient to load them all but looks fun. Saw some of such with G-Man and what some insane guy did with him in that mod, heh.

I have 6mbps internet, so speed isn't a problem, but I think it might be a good idea to shrink those pics down to a lower resolution so that they fit in the width of the forum page, and you don't have to scroll side-to-side. If I had Half-life I would definitely get this mod, but I don't feeling like getting half-life, even if I wouldn't have to pay for it...

Many things have been done! Firstly, I played a Gmod game with sloth last night, where everyone was pretty much making cars. (You can make drivable cars pretty easily, by adding wheels and "thrusters." Although we certianly pimped our ride.) The second was a little comic I made.

That is the final product for me and sloth's car. I think it's pretty awesome, compared to the redneck-mobiles everyone else was making. I did make one myself, however, that included a polite message to all other drivers:

      Here's the comic.

I hope you enjoyed this crap!
