      Parents

Do you guys tell your parents about your lucid dreaming? i told my mom about it and she was really interested, but after i got in trouble with things (experienting with mj and stuff) she got worried that this is something that could lead me to it again, so i never really talked to her about this stuff again.

What do you guys tell your parents? and do they care about lding?

My parents don't care about anything, they let the decision making to me. I could have drugs stashed in my room or regulary visit some terrorist website and they wouldn't know about it :p. I told about LDing once douring some philosophycal conversation we had, nobody really expressed anything about it.

I told my parents about lucid dreaming. I don't really think they got it. Now sometimes when I visit, they will ask me about dream interpretation.

I can't wait till I'm a parent telling my kids about lucid dreaming. Imagine a child who is aware of the concept of controlling their dreams from the first time they remember their dreams at all.

Yeah, training a lucid dreamer from birth... that would be cool for them. Or they'd see lucid dreams as nothing special...

I decided when I first began lucid dreaming, not to discuss such things with people I feel would be too closed minded to even try to grasp the concept.

No one in my family aside from my husband knew that I lucid dreamed up until three months ago (my parents and sisters would definately NOT understand).

Three months ago I decided to discuss lucid dreaming with my son and was greeted with what I so lovingly call "the smile". LOL!

But then last month my son sent me a text message and signed off with "Nite. Lucid dreams." Needless to say I still have that text message!

I never brought up the subject on my own, but when my mom saw my EWLD book she asked me what lucid dreaming was. I only really discuss it with my friend, who's also into it.

I have. I used to get a LOT or pre-cognative dreams and used to tell my mum all of them as was fun watching her freak out when all this stuff happened! She is always asking me about my dreams now. I also told her about LDs and stuff, she is very interested.

My Dad however, I can only ever really talk to him about money lol.

That's happened to me, too, only with some of my friends. I told my parents, but it's just not something they're in to. Granted, there are several hobbies I have that the rest of my family isn't in to, but oh well. More for me!

Oh, that's precious! I'd save a text like that, too

I do every now and then, though it's my grandmother I can more, she's been an avid lucid dreamer for years it turns out.

Told 'em. My dad keeps making references to "lewed" dreams now

No, I haven't told them yet, but I'm going to if I want to get a copy of EWLD. Which I might be getting this week, if the book store has a copy.

My dad actually asked me how my lucid dreaming was going which was surprising and i said fine and he ended up laughing at me about it after a conversation about dreaming. I hate the guy.

I have expressed alot of interest about it with my family, my parents view it as cool but nothing special because i don't think they can grasp the idea really, but my sister who is very creative and a musician has expressed interest in it and finds the idea very neat!

I don't really tell my parents about anything I do including lding because I think my dad would be too close minded and my mom would take it as a chance to "get to know me".

Ah.. now that's kinda sad. If given the chance, maybe you and your mom could bond over LDing.

Trust me Clarity, my mom seizes every chance to ask questions about my life at school and tries to change me at every corner. I find it extremely annoying. I don't want to change. I just like being myself in my own mind free from people questioning my unique and serious ambitions and ideals. I don't know how to explain my feelings about this subject very well.

Oh.. sorry. When you said that she was trying to get to know you, I thought she was trying to understand you so that she could share your interests, etc. and get closer to you.. I didn't realize that she was trying to change you.

Everyone who I regularly see in my family tries to change me except my siblings. Including my step dad and step mom. I think of it as my own personal hell. Don't get the wrong idea though, I'm not a depressed person.
