      Something major?

      Ok so my internet got suspended because i went passed the monthly bandwidth limit so my dad phones up and gets it working again (the net) and they said i used 110GB of bandwidth in 4 days yet i have not downloaded anything in over a week and had no programs running AT ALL and used no bandwidth except surfing and games. What gives? if it happens again i will have to pay for my own internet when i have not used anything except playing games and visiting a few sites i always visit and a few others i sometimes visit but somehow it shows i have used 110GB of bandwidth in 4 days?

      Perhaps it was a mistake.. or maybe someone tapped into your wireless if you were using that? You might want to try explaining the situation to your internet provider.

      What about a virus? anyway i deleted all my downloads and got rid of everything.

      I use a router and cable modem high speed internet.

      Have you scanned your entire computer? A virus could still be running in the background...

      Hmmm. I'm not computer savvy past the basics... Have you run a (free) program like Adaware yet for viruses?

      I wonder, do internet providers keep logs of what you do?

      I suck with computers anyway. Adaware is a spyware thing, AVG sux for picking things up ive had it a few years and yet to get a virus though that but everything else says i got a virus.

      Yes, ISP's do keep tabs as far as i know.


      Have you scanned your entire computer? A virus could still be running in the background...
      Not yet, like i mentioned AVG sucks so i'll have to go out and get Norton or something.

      Ah well I asked about them keeping tabs because you can just ask them what has caused you to use up so much bandwidth.

      Download the latest trial of Spysweeper. It's on one of the pages but it's there. Everytime something's been screwy with my computer, Spysweeper has fixed it.

      Norton is not free but DO NOT BUY IT! It does a better job of fucking your computer up than the viruses it purports to protect you from -- and how it can possibly do this with weekly updates (in comparison, the free Avast!, which I recommend, updates three times a day) I have no idea.

      LucidFlanders: Does "surfing" include watching high def video? Because that saps bandwidth an awful lot.
