You can't stop playing...it's to freakin awesome.
Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?

Yeah, there are loads of people on my friends roster playing it. It's like a guarantee that one of them will be playing.

It's no surprise, Call of Duty 4 is probably the best game this entire year.

Might want to cut a bit down. Just surf a bit instead.

What!? why cut down?! ... well okay maybe you should actually eat and piss and stuff like that. And you might want to take a peak outside to make sure the neighborhood hasnt changed, but still.

You are right my friend! But I think that it would not be so good if he will go to cinema! It might have effect to his eyes! But he can become more athletic! For example you can to to play some basketball or football with your friends! Try it out dude!

what if nobody in his area would ever consider basketball and he sucks at football(hehehe this is me..).

If you want a break shall we swap brains for a bit, i'm at my grans till sunday(ugh....) so COD4 would not effect me, personally i just got the game for chrimbo, completed it, did some online. It's good but... meh it doesn't draw me back to play it like halo 3 has.

Why not take the suggestion of going to the movies or generally going to see some of your friends. If you ever do them, have a sleepover at a friends house who doesn't have COD4?

      Break the disc in half.

Or just tell your parents about your addiction and that should prompt them to monitor and/or do something about it.

Games are only good until you get addicted to them. Playing something every once in a while is OK, but when you're playing it all day it not only isn't fun anymore, but it ruins your life. Breaking an addiction can be hard, and it requires a lot of self-control. Self-control is the only real way to break an addiction, short of snapping the CD, and we here at the forums can't really help your willpower. But try to overcome it, and if you value reality enough, you'll succeed.

Alright, i know this is really random but have you got to that level in the campaign where you are the Sniper working with that other sniper dude? Thats gotta be my favorite level, except when it gets to the end and it's impossible to beat.

      Get Uncharted: Drakes Fortune.

It's awesome. It also shows how amazing the PS3 graphics are if developers get off their arses and stop making lazy 360 ports.

There's no such thing as gaming addictions. It's something gamers make up, to sound special. Sure, games make the body release chemicals in the body, because it's a lot of fun, but it is absolutely nothing, compared to drugs and the likes.

Everything we like in life, makes our body release chemicals. That is why we stick to one hubby, and don't change our interests all the time.

haha lol i hid in that level where you and the injured guy have to snipe loas of enemies. When that part starts i ran to the right pst this wooden building right until you hit this radiation barrier. Ten i went left and just hid in that corner at a brick wall. Most enemies didn't find me and those occasional ones who figured out they had to run around the wooden building like i has, i had my sniper pointed there and just shot when they came round the corner. Then also some enemies would shoot widly from the wooden building but they mostly missed me and i shot em.

At the end i just grabbed a machine gun from a dead guy and ran shooting to my ally. Picked him up and ran to helicopter, lol.

So what you are saying is that when our body releases those chemicals over and over while we are playing games and when our minds can't focus on anything but those games, it isn't an addiction? Hmm...chemicals? Aren't drugs just new chemicals? So we become addicted to the chemicals our body makes, rather then the chemicals one can introduce via drugs, food, etc.

      ad·dic·tion (-dkshn) KEY

      NOUN:
        1. Compulsive physiological and psychological need for a habit-forming substance: a drug used in the treatment of heroin addiction.
        2. An instance of this: a person with multiple chemical addictions.
        1. The condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or or involved in something.
        2. An instance of this: had an addiction for fast cars.
      ad·dict (-dkt) KEY

      TRANSITIVE VERB:
      ad·dict·ed , ad·dict·ing , ad·dicts
      1. To cause to become physiologically or psychologically dependent on a habit-forming substance: The thief was addicted to cocaine.
      2. To occupy (oneself) with or involve (oneself) in something habitually or compulsively: The child was addicted to video games.
      NOUN:
      (dkt)
      1. One who is addicted, as to narcotics or a compulsive activity.
      2. A devoted adherent; a fan: "We are all . . . addicts of change" (Christopher Lasch).
Unfortunately the dictionary seems to think differently then you, as far as video games not being addicting. A person can become addicted to anything, be it drugs, sex, video games, food, etc. If a person stops eating, stops going out, and even dies because of a game I'd call that being addicted.

Please, don't go around trying to play it off as if there is no such thing as video game addiction because there is. It's not just some people wanting a little extra attention and an excuse to play video games more, I assure you.

I should reword a bit then.
There's no such thing as a physical gaming addiction, that you can't easily break at any time. Drugs and cigarettes are different, because there's no alternative that gives you, what they do. As in, you can't go and play a videogame, and then nicotine gets released in your body.

What I'm saying, is that video gaming is just as addictive as playing with legoes, performing parkour and much else fun stuff.
If a person claims to be so addicted to a video game, that he can't go period of time without playing, it's because this person is weak/has no willpower. Not because of the video game and how it affects one physically.

Well, yeah of course it can't form a physical addiction, but neither can marijuana. It's all a mental addiction and over coming the mental aspect is sometimes just as difficult if not as difficult to over come as the physical. In short, mental addictions are just as bad as physical addictions and, well, they are both addictions in the end.

Definitely. He's not addicted. He just likes the game. From my understanding, this thread is just a joke, to tell how good the game is

No, not really. You aren't really seeing the difference between casual play and life consuming play, I guess.

You think that playing a game 18 hours a day and hearing grenades and gunfire even when you aren't playing is a joke?

That is true, though life consuming play usually comes from something very else; to be the best, therefore playing constantly to be get good and get high ranks.

It's highly doubtful that he's hearing gunfire and grenades, when not playing. What I'm saying, is that he's exagerating, to point out how good the game is.
