      What is your symbol?

Symbols are quite interesting, especially in dreams. They represent something, they sum up thoughts into a form of picture, they awaken feelings in the masses. Do you have any symbol of your own that you use in waking life?

I, personally, have several symbols, which I have carried with me for as long as I can remember. The symbol I use most is the moon. It has many variations, but the moon is usually present in the symbol. For long I had a picture of a blade that pierces the crescent moon as my symbol.

Another one that I use is the calligraphic circle made with black ink.

For me it symbolises many things. First of all, it is a symbol of void or nothingness. An empty circle. Secondly, it is a symbol of beauty, a circle painted in a flash with a flowing, graceful movement. It also symbolizes perfection, an attempt to create a perfect, round circle with a single freehand movement. Yet it stays uncomplete, which remains at my mindset of life. Striving to perfection with all the determination, but realizing it cannot be achieved. It represents life, the way things go around, start again and evolve until they die. The ebb and flow of life.

Last of all, it is a simple shape. Simple and clear, free from all additional lines or shapes. It stands alone as free and independ of other lines.

What is your symbol, if any?
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

      I like.

And a favored symbol of mine might be a little obvious, right off the bat. My
signature and avatar give that away. Eyes can be unsettling depending on how
they're drawn, but for me they represent vision, clarity, and awareness. On top
of that they can mean wisdom and knowledge. The one I made for the
signature is taken directly from the Egyptian Eye of Horus, which was used to
represent the 5 senses and thought. My avatar includes a Hebrew character,
and displays the color scheme I'm fond of for the eye. Outlined in red, the iris in
      purple. That's a flag I'd fly.

Yes I like your avatar Invader. An eye is such a good symbol as it stands for many different things. The most fascinating thing about eyes is that there are billions of different eyes, which awake different feelings. No wonder i.e Sauron is portraited as mere eye

The Vajra Guru Mantra, OM AH HUM VAJRA GURU PADMA SIDDHE HUM, said to contain the whole of the Buddha's teachings in twelve syllables, which I would affirm. Like all mantras, it has no fixed meaning, but one interpretation is "Bless me into usefulness." I find both the spoken mantra and the visual symbols very powerful and would indeed advise caution in their use. There's an excellent exposition of this mantra in the appendices of Sogyal Rinpoche's The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

The iron cross...as in, the ancient Teutonic symbol, not the BS Western pop-culture influenced ones like West Coast Choppers.

Like any cross, it represents balance and stability, as is apparent from the symmetry. Its original germanic symbolism was that of courage, often awarded to soldiers who committed outstanding acts of bravery, much like the purple heart. Can also be construed as a symbol of strength and power.

...And like any symbol used in Germany during the Nazi era, it has become a symbol of nazism to the many retards of Western society. "Durr, Hitler used it, so it's evil now." Just makes me wish I could figure out what Hitler's favorite flavor of ice cream was so that I can declare it (and all who like it) evil.

i dont have a picture of my symbol yet.. i need to make one

it is going to be a hourglass with a snake wrapped around it so tight the glass is almost breaking you would see a few cracks on it. also the sand will have a pattern aswel as the glass of the hoursglass. also the snake wil form a circle and bit its own tail and it will have a beatifull eye with the form of a lock in it now there is much more to this symbol but first i need to perfect it in my head then draw it. i have been thinking about it for 2 years and i am sure it wil aid me in lucid dreaming and motivation.

however i have no skills in drawing or painting so it the result wil not be wat i want. also i am a perfectionist when it come to stuff like this so the design of it could be lasting my lifetime. the meaning behind it is personal but wordly to and it wil be full of hidden messages and alot numerology wil be inolved to. if only i could photoshop or something...

      Sounds like a great image!

My symbols are: Crescent moon and star and a backward "S" of sorts, but more flattened and with longer ends and something resembling a "u" in the center.
Those have been part of my signature for as long as I can remember, so I tattooed them on the inside and outside of my left wrist.
      They simply represent "ME".

I've also adopted the symbol of Dagaz here of late and tattooed it onto the inside of my right wrist. It's a Rune which symbolizes "Dawn, Daybreak, Change, Being in Control of Ones Own Destiny".

      I have a few.

The first is the moon, in all or any of it's stages. The second is the symbolic wolf. There's also the earth as a planet from far away seen as a star... a five pointed star... with inbetween each of the 'arms' is a stage of the moon. Full, 3/4, half, 1/4, and then a sliver of the moon. I also find eyes very symbolic and powerful, as well as paws. Towering evergreens, rocky mountains, shivering streams and beautiful fields. Basically everything around me... but the symbols that I find are most involved in my life are the moon, wolf, earth and moon combined, and eyes.

I'm so privileged to live in Canada, and more particularly, a part of Canada where I'm only ever an hour or two from Icy glaciers in rocky mountains, arid deserts, flowing plains, swamps, rainforests, and boreal/evergreen forests.

Probably the most inspiring place on earth.

edit: An hour away by car that is! In a few cases even by foot. No crappy airplanes flights or anything.

A Chinese Tao picture of universal harmony and the unity between complimentary opposites: light/dark, male/female, etc.
