Been there, done that. Hurts like a bitch. Nothing much you can do except eat very soft food.

Also, it would be better to ask your doctor these types of health questions.

Yeah, it hurts now, but in a few days it will go. In the meantime you could take some painkillers.

Burns is right, soft food only.

Don't eat hard candy like suckers, or only lick them. I popped a bracket off when I first got mine.

At first you'll probably get some canker sores on the insides of your lips that hurt like hell, and they give you wax to put on your braces, but don't do that. it will only keep them there longer. Just let them hurt like hell and heal, then soon you won't get them any more except of very few occasions. The wax just keeps them sensitive.

When you first get them on they'll hurt pretty bad for a day or 2 max, but then they'll kind of have that numbing pain that doesn't really hurt, then you won't feel anything. Then they'll tighten them and it will be less pain each time.

The worst part is when shit gets stuck in them. I'm OCD, so I end up freaking and trying to get the stuff out. Apples get stuck a lot, and those are hard to get out.

A good thing is that when some people had these little light bulb things where you connected these wires to light them up, I could light it off my braces.

Like Burns said, eat lots of soft foods. I think I lived on jello when I got my braces first on. ugh.. it hurts like a bitch for the first week or so, but the pain will go away.

Getting the braces on is going to hurt. Then ache for a while. Don't worry, you get used to it, and only have to experience it again when they tighten them for short amounts of time.

BE GOOD WITH YOUR BRACES. I'll compare me and my brother. My brother had his braces for five years. He chewed gum, didn't brush well or use the special paste, use his nightbrace, or wear his rubber bands. He had them three years too long.

I, on the other hand, used my nightbrace and my rubber bands every night, didn't eat any of the "NO!" foods, and used special paste and brushed well. I got mine off in eighteen months. :3 And I have pretty teeth.

tl;dr: Braces. Do what they say and you'll be happy.

I've had three DILDs in the last year, one tactile, two in the last three months that were dreamlike.

      ^^

yeah i agree, just make your don't eat stuff like toffee which can break them. I never have but someone in my class just to play with theirs and broke parts of them like four times, so her treatment took like a year extra.

I'm getting mine off in two months.

Will have had them for exactly two years.

The only I'd say is that your dentist may tell you, no fizzy drinks or chocolate or sweets at all. Now mine didn't say this exactly, bar he recommended no chewing gum. I asked him why he didn't ban all sugary foods and he said that to be honest if i brushed my teeth well twice a day eating chocolate and a small amount of sweets( although be sure they aren't way chewy or sticky, getting them stuck to the metal is easy) would be fine. Just treat your teeth like you did before( assuming you brushed well). Although maybe spend an extra minute brushing at the odd angles in the braces, it will be very hard to get everywhere easily so also use some good mouthwash to help.
Lugggs and cuddles and hugs for all!!

      Bah, your all weak!

Braces for me were not so bad at all, i had about 5 sets of braces during primary and secondary school. My teeth were pretty crooked.

I went to the orthodontist today and got mine tightened. They hurted for a bit but now, 5 hours later I'm fine.

Well everything I would have said has already been said. The pain will go away. Keep your braces clean. Trust me, the extra attention you give your teeth now will be worth it later. You don't want to get your braces removed on that oh-so-sweet day only to find moldy, gaping holes in the place of what should have been your teeth.
