So, there was an Earthquake last night...

Here in the UK, only 5.3 magnitude, but because we have them so rarely, its hugh news on the TV/news etc.

All my friends felt it, all my family did. Apparently very strong.

Am I woken up? Nope.... I am however by my phone (on silent!) which is my brother texting me to tell me about how frightened he was!

So, anyone else here from England feel it?

I didn't feel anything? But maybe thats because I'm very far down south.

My housemate just got a call from her mum... i'll summerise it here

"This is a sign of the times Natasha, there will be more Earthquakes coming! Its the signs of the apocolypse!" (she is a very strong born again Christian)

And that is her being completly sincere. My friend was very scard.

yeah i felt it. My cat was keeping me up a bit and i was like almost asleep, like dozing off. Then i felt my room shake i was thinking that maybe it was a weird body paralysis or hallucinate related to dreaming, but it lasted around 10 seconds and my cat seemed a little concerned to so i just thought it was an earthquake and went back to sleep. My mum woke up and came in asking if i felt it and i kinda grunted at her for further waking me up.

The news is totally blowing it out of proportion. getting in all these earthquake people to tell us about it, we had one like this 25 years ago, so it;s not exactly a groundbreaking event( excuse my pun).

The news guy asks him: " So is this earthquake on a similar scale to America and Japan"

and the scientist basically sighs and just says "....no", lol.

For the last 10 minutes solid the news has been quoting various random people in the UK saying stuff like " Oh i thought a bomb went off", " oh my bed shook i thought the house was going to collapse!".

GEEZ PEOPLE! It was 5.3, it was basically nothing, most of the people in my class slept through it, im surprised i didn't.

Now the news is asking oh will be like America and Asia with their huge quakes, again scientists is like "....no. The earthquake that caused some larger scale damage Turkey a while back was magnitude 7, this was roughly 5, ours was 900 times less powerful..."

it's getting annoying, their going to be on about this for weeks..., the English really are lightweights these days..
Lugggs and cuddles and hugs for all!!

Seis, if you have nothing relevant to say in the topical threads, just take yourself into Senseless because your really adding and contributing nothing by acting stupid.

I actually thought it was a bomb for a split second, but then it hit me that it was an earthquake, the scariest thing was that i thought it was going to get worse. It shook em up though.

Well maybe after reading six of these threads about the same thing, there isn't much to contribute but that.

I thought it was a bomb as well when I was reading about it right after it happened.

      But it wasn't.

Seis, let me put this into perspective for you.

      A. You don't live in the UK, so you don't know how rare it is something like this happens.

      B. Why should you care enough to post irrelevant comments?

      C. Why shouldn't people be able to talk about it, maybe we are going over things, but we can talk about it if we like.

If you don't like what is being discussed, don't read the thread, just
leave it be and ignore it. Just leave it be, don't post a reply to this, just try and act sensibly, if you have something to contribute then go for it instead or ruining the thread for others.

      Simple as.

Sorry to go offtopic guys on this. Please continue.

      a. Of course I know how rare it is.
      b. I wanted to post that particular statement?
      c. Who said they shouldn't?!

      f. Where did I say I didn't like what was being discussed? I read about six other threads about it last night, and have exhausted things to say, really.

      Just asserting myself.

This conversation is a ground breaking one... until know I didn't know that Scottish people had access to electricity, let alone the Internet.

Oh mate .. you must be joking.. everyone knows that binge drinking originated in Glasgow, with the popularity of "Bucky".. (see Rab C. Nesbitt).

Rab Nesbitt, is he like the King of Scotland, or the National figure or something. Does every scottish man aspire to be like him.
