Need Help Improving my Coursework

Hey there, I kind of need some help improving my music coursework. Basically the task was to get your favourite song and recreate it in a different style. You can have many instruments and more but the style has to change. Obviously you have to play most the stuff yourself, i did the majority and got some help from friends to do other bits. I also included some congas, but they are not easy to hear, but lets see what you think. I chose "The Ballad of Curtis Loew" by "Lynyrd Skynyrd" but did it in a reggae style. Here it is so far - Click Me to listen. Now i got the guitar, bass and drums down as well as a naff solo. I did a bit of mixing with the project separate to see what i could come up with and this is what i got down. No vocals as of yet, but i'm getting them down next week before the coursework deadline. There are some out of the ordinary bits, but please remember that this is reggae and some bits may not sound right anyways. The solo is okay, i don't have many ideas, so i just applied some EQ and it sort of works. I messed with the panning and managed to get some interesting panning going on also. But i would really overall appreciate some feedback to help me improve my coursework before getting the vocals down and submitting it. Thanks.

Earbuds listen... Love the "space" you are creating here. Finding the hard-panned guitars a bit distracting in the choruses. It's good to get them off-center to leave space for bass, guitar, etc., but I'd go for something less than 100% panning right and left so the disconnect isn't there when listening on phones. If not, then try using a stereo reverb on each channel and panning the effect back the other way. (I made this same mistake recently with a song I shared with you... can sound fantastic on open speakers but then there's the "hole" that opens up on phones, which is how a lot of people listen to stuff.) Overall, it is very impressive. I love the bass tone and style you've pulled out of this. What are you playing there, anyway? When mixing, keep checking on phones. You don't want to do your mix on phones, but it has to sound good on them too.
