tell me some cool pet names

Hey I got a new pet, but I'm terrible at thinking of names, does anyone know some cool names. My pet is a boy, so they'd have to be boy names.

Maybe some more information about the colour/size/SPECIES of your pet?

Don't want to go calling an hamster 'Ripper', or anything like that, you know...

I tend name my pets after famed historical figures, especially when they don't have a lot of personality (i.e. fish or reptiles). For me, these sorts of names make great comedy and make the pet more interesting/lovable.

Marx, Oscar (Wilde), Atilla, Nietzsche, Caligula, Imhotep, Shelley, Plato, Eisenhower, Freud, Heidegger, Leeuwenhoek, Byron, Virgil, Confucius, Faraday, Cicero, Descartes, and Kant, to name a few, might make good pet names.

^^^ Yea, a guinea pig named "Caligula", that would be cool.

I was thinking Checkers would be good. I had a guinea pig named that.

Meh I usually try to name my pets with unusual and/or exotic names.

My rabbits name is Zooni, and if I ever get another one his/her name would start with an X.

      How about Oreo?

I like the idea of naming animals by the names of animals they are not. You could call your guinea pig Moose, Lizard, Catfish, Cricket, Parakeet, Tarantula, or something like that. It is also cool to name a pet by a word you completely made up.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

It depends on what you want. Do you want a unique name (foreign word, invented word)? A "people" name (Frank, Bob, etc)? A themed name (movie or video game character, etc)? Are you going to call the pet by it's name? If so, you may only want to consider one or two syllable names.

I named my guinea pig Webster, back when I had one. I'd suggest just spending some time thinkng on it, though. I usually spend a day or two thinking, and eventually it just snaps into my mind, the perfect name. Spend some more time with him, get to know the lil' guy a little better.

Suggestions from a few different angles: Considering guinea pigs' mating habits: Lando (Calrissian), Casanova, Don Juan. Irony: Chewbacca, Killer, Wolfsbane, Beast. Other: Courage, Blade, The Thing, Vader, Master Chief, Carver, Duck.

The all-time greatest pet name was given to an English Setter we had when I was a kid. Her name was Thundermuffin.

You can't go wrong with "Rover" and "fido"

Classic names never go out of fashion...

(How about "Czech wolf" or "Gizmo". My friends guinea pig is named gizmo....)

I'd go for a posh "people" name eg. Geoffrey, Frederick, Julian. Give him a double-barrelled surname also.

      [EDIT] Reginald?

A guinea pig?!? I had a guinea pig!!! They're soooo adorable. I taught mine to beg. Oh, Pookie. I miss him.

I've always wanted to name a pet Fizzgig. It's the dog-like pet thing from the movie The Dark Crystal. Don't be boring with your name though. My last two boyfriends gave my cats boring names (Molly and Princess), so I changed them to make them better - Miss Molly Mitten Kitten and Princess Meow Meow Sugarbaby.

      Use Fizzgig!

Want something more obscure? Call it Fezzik or Inigo Montoya, or Rodent of Unusual Size, or maybe Marvin the Paranoid Rodent, or possibly Zaphod Beeblebrox. Or you could go with Gaspode, or Mr. Pin, or Moist Lipwig or Vimes. Also consider Perry Mason.

My cat's name is Sadie (my sister named her years and years ago) but I call her Sadie Bean the Lean Machine, which me and my dad came up with long ago when I was young.

Just thought I'd throw that out there...
