It is time for this bird to leave the nest. Everyone has got to go sometime, and I am ready to get out and get my own place. I'll be out within a month or two, but i dont really care where. So I'm going to use DV to help me type up my thoughts, and get a little advice so i dont screw up.
The way i see it, is i have 5 choices.
1. move out on my own.
PRO: my own place, and my own rules. Ultimate freedom. Come when i want, go when i want, leave the place a mess, or leave it clean, it wouldnt matter. I dont get very lonely, and when I do, I have plenty of friends to remedy the situation. Then there is always DV.
CON: no one there to share the rent, so I either need to sacrifice size, or a large sum of my time to compensate.
2. move out with my bro.
PRO: 2 people to share rent, i've known him my whole life, and we get along great.
CON: he isn't ready to move out quite yet. He doesnt like work right now, he doesn't like school right now, and he doesnt like his social life either. If he snaps and moves back home, Im stuck with a huge place, and a huge monthly payment.
3. move out with friend set #1
PRO: very cool people. I've known them for awhile. The rent would be cheap, the place would be big, and I get along pretty well with them.
CON: 3 of them are younger than me all of them have taken a drink or two, and some are doing small time drugs and things. I have no problem with their lifestyles, but i dont live a lifestyle like that, and i dont know how realiablethey would be. And there is the fact that I would be the 4th or 5th guy in, so its the couch, or sharing a room for me.
4. move out with friend set #2.
PRO: very cool people again. They are older than me, very responsible, going to school, not switching jobs, and can handle life. No drugs, little drinking, and there is an extra room that i could take.
CON: I've known them for awhile, and we hang out some, but I dont really know them all that well. And they are way older than me, like 6 years. I dont know if thats a good thing or a bad thing, so I'll count it as both
5. Look for people posting things on the bulltein <-(meh spelling) board at school
PRO: Not many pros. It will be affordable though, and I'll be in a good location.
CON: I wont have ANY clue who the person is. I dont like the hey nice to meet you lets move in thing. What if this person decides to eff it and just leaves? what if we dont get along? What if i work nights and have to come in when they are sleeping? Lots of what ifs.
6. Move out with another friend who is living on his own.
PRO: this guy is cool, we've known eachother for a long time, and we have had some way cool adventures with our little group of friends.
CON: for one, I havent asked him yet. And for 2, he is a little lazy and irresponsible. Kinda like me, but I can choose to be responsible and hard working pretty quickly if i need too, for him, its hard.
Im taking school slow cause I hated high school, so why fill my schedual with something i hate? And if i were to work full time at my first job, i would be able to get by without much extra cash. That is why i plan on taking up a part time second job for a little safety and spending cash. I have about 2k saved up just cause, and Im hoping not to use it, but i can tap in there once or twice if something goes wrong.
So any comments advice for a new guy in the neighborhood?
