      Homecoming

So this year for my junior year i want to rig the home coming court election. The elect a prince and princess from our grade. I think that onlya few people vote for these popular kids who win, and that if i pull a few string i can rig it. I want to do it just to piss off the popular kids. Any opinions or tips? Maybe someone has tried this before?

Why are you trying to get back at people for being what they are?

      Just relax man.

I never believed in popularity. Just be yourself even if that means riging your homecoming, I guess.

i never really cared who won queen or king. i mean i might be a little upset that people who i didn't like won, but i got over it fast.

if you want to rig it then go ahead. As long as the people who are going to win are spinless bastards then go for it, but it's a little illogical to go out of your way to make them lose. i wouldnt be bothered by it, but if you have time then do it.

so....HOW are you going to rig it?

Curiosity killed the cat but at least it didnt die an ignorant bastard

I never understood this "Popularity Contest" that TV portaits. I mean in my school nobody cares about who is cool are a nerd. Everyone just leaves things to be. I think you are just being a follower. How I hate them.

There was never that sort of popularity contest at my school, either, and for that I'm eternally grateful.. well, it existed among freshmen girls, but I suppose that was because they were too young to know better and their heads were full of ideas that TV shows/movies portrayed.

My high school was big on popularity contests, but I didn't really care. I was a bit of a nerd and had my own group of ppl that made fun of the preps/jocks....not to their faces, of course. I just tried to be nice to everyone, though. I didn't really care who won spots on the court....except when my twin sister was made Winter Formal Queen my senior year.

Nobody asked me to formal dances until my senior year, hence another reason why I didn't really care.

my school was in-between. EVeryone was cool with everyone to some extent, but there weres till those groups to some extent.

But on topic more, Id say go for it and make sure someone no one would ever expect to win, wins. And anyways, how would you pull this off?

I would make it so that the people that everyone makes fun of win. That would probably be shocking for most people and it could boost their ego. Of course, it could also go the other way and they will think its just another way to make fun of them...

Anyway, rig it by all means. Make the janitor win, make a jock guy win the queen one, and then his mom win the king one. I dunno, just do something weird...
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

Last year, when I was a sophmore, I had a theory that applied to the freshman class for homecoming elections, and it turned out correct (I even won some money from a bet, which makes me a bad person ):

Since I was good friends for many years with arguably the most popular group in the school that year, which happened to be freshman, I knew that the "popular" group (there kinda isn't one, just really a group of kids that had know each other for the longest time) was small. I mean, it's not like anyone really looked over and went, "Whoa, look at the popular group!" There was probably a max of 15 or 20 kids. The rest of the people in the freshman class were the popular kids from the other school (a group of about 50). And the "well known" kids (You know, the kids that goto parties and are generally accepted), about 100 of those. And then you have the attention whores, wanna-be goth/punk, annoying people, fat-bitchy people, very quiet, and so on people, which included about 200 people.

Now you can see that the "unpopular" group outnumbers the "popular" people 10 to 1, and they also outnumber the "semi-popular" group by 2 to 1 (these are just rough guesses). This may be because of stronger trends to become "different" or "non-conforming" (not that the "non-conforming" trend thing is new, it just seems to have more forms as of lately). Now, this type of group tends to intermix, as sometimes "quiet" people will sometimes cross over to "punk/goth" people. And also that "annoying" people, "attention whores", and "fat-bitchy" people tend to blend in quite well with each other. As in most school status groups tend to have "leaders" or "alphas" that everyone else in that group tends to revolve around or look up to, there are also people in this large group of 200 that seem to follow this "law". Two prominent (sp?) people to be exact, one male and one female.

As the law of numbers and some social quirks would have it, these two people was most likely to become elected homecoming king and queen. And they both had been elected.

"And all was well in the enchanted lands of TJHS, and everyone lived happily ever after. THE END." more or less...

Oh, and if you can, rig it for the hell of it. It's not like it would really piss anyone off, but it would be funny.

At our school we usually never take elections for anything seriously. I remember for TWIRP dance (our equivilent of the "Sadie Hawkings Dance" or whatever the hell you call it) last year we had to do elections like 4 times because we kept mixmatching classes, gender, and put in nonsense answers like "pig fetus" or "1337 McW00t". Whatever came to mind.

thats what I'm saying. Only about 20 people vote for the winner. To rig it would be as easy as hell.
