Tell me what this guy's words meant

Me and some friends were messing around in the halls during lunch today. There were about 10-15 of us. I joked around and made a kicking motion at one of my friend's asses, he said "Don't even try" in a non-serious tone to which I replied, "Alright, I won't. You'd eat me." He's a big guy so I was poking a little fun at him. He said "ya I will." He then had a short dialogue with one of the others in the group and said "Who'd wanna eat that anyway? It's like chewing on a rock." It was all said in non-serious context and we were just playing around, no hostility. This is no big deal, I'm just really curious as to what he was implying by that. He was either calling me skinny, or calling me muscular. Not exactly sure which one makes more sense, but I am pretty muscular in all areas overall considering my age. I've been getting a lot of compliments lately particularly about my muscles. I just feel as if I haven't been thanking people for compliments or returning them. Sometimes I don't even realize I've been complimented until afterwards. I'd like to be more aware of this so that I can give and return more openly and convey myself as a friendly person.
