In America, do you hear about British deaths in Iraq?

I was just wondering about this really. Over here they generally announce every American death, most days( sadly) there will be an announcement about say four American coalition troops dead, location, time and then generally an interview with an American general, or an English general, or a general person who is well informed about the Iraq War/Afghanistan in general who will talk about success and other things. So on American news channels, do they often mention British troops dieing, names, where they died, how etc? I assume they talked about the first British women to die in Iraq which occurred during the week.
Lugggs and cuddles and hugs for all!!

Just to say, and I'm not meaning to be hostile towards you, but I haven't heard any news of American troops dieing, unless in a friendly fire incident.

No, they almost never report on american deaths either. I don't think the administration allows it.

Mainstream news never covers it. I listen to NPR on the radio, which also includes news from the BBC, so I do hear about it, but most Americans have no idea there are even any non-American soldiers fighting at all.

Sadly, my friend, the goal of the american media is not to publicize the war in Iraq. As most americans, (or as i call them, Sheeple) Now regret the decision to go to war in Iraq, corporate interests (The puppetmasters, The Man, The men upstairs) dictate that the war in Iraq should be at the back of everyone's mind. And look at the state our economy is in, you can hardly blame the sheeple. No, No, the puppetmasters aren't going to be saying, and heres how many people died in Iraq today. They might tell you how many insurgents (People defending their homeland, Women, Children) we killed - but seeing a newsreport on casualties in Iraq is about as likely as Haliburton paying to have a commercial aired of how much money it has made off the war in Iraq - and how much money (forget our brothers lives, what are they compared to a dollar) America has lost. The bottom line is, you start talking about the war in Iraq, and then you start asking why we went to war in Iraq, and that's when things start to get unpleasant. Pretty soon you're back at 9/11, and nobody wants to get into a discussion or (god forbid) an investigation of that. It was the terrorists! NORAD was busy! Ask all the questions you want, we're just going to ignore them LOLLOLLOLLOLMONEYPOWERLOLLOLLOLLOLLo
But the sheeple still have their couches and tv's and po-Tay-To chips, so who gives a fuck?
By the way... does anyone want to overthrow the American government with me?
(Just Kiddding, Don't respond yes unless you want the CIA keeping tabs on you)

They don't report on just any British soldier death, but they do report big news events involving deaths of British soldiers. It's the same as how they handle American soldier deaths. Some events stand out enough to be news stories, but a regular style casualty does not. Usually if like ten of them are killed in one explosion or a group of helicopters is shot down or something, it makes the news.

oh ok, hmm generally on the BBC they'll mentioned most of them actually, if 3+die in one day they'll defo mention it.

So in America, did they report on the first British female soldier to die in Iraq, it's a big media thing over here.

Nope, I watch CNN all the time, which covers the war on Iraq more than most news stations here, and the deaths in Iraq still aren't announced very often if at all. I haven't even heard of the first female British soldier dieing.

why would we care about british deaths?

is your point that a british life is as news worthy as an american life? how about a sudanese life? tibetan life? chinese life? why isn't there a big ass obituary of everyone who has died in the prior days happenings?

because that would be absurd. we care about the people around us.

yeah lol and we take the time to announce your guys deaths.

Also when they were discussing a fellow BBC news reporter and some soldiers who had died when an American bomber and bombed a British convoy they didn't call the American military retarded, which was kind under the circumstances. We got to see the film from the reporter though, it was of him outside a jeep( like 10 metres away or so) and all the vehicles were on fire, then blood drips down the camera lens, im guessing from his face, it was a little OTT to show during the day.

Damn, we don't even hear about our own soldier's deaths. Plus this is AMURICA! We fought you guys for FREEDOM and WON! Ask any AMURICAN about Britain, and they'll say, "What, you mean that little island with the funny-speaking people?!"

The only time i ever hear about a soldier's death is in local news if they lived around the area. Sometimes you'll get the name. Sometimes you won't.

I do believe Metronome summed it up perfectly.

By the way, i'm jealous of british accents.

This is the kind of shit that makes the entire world hate us... the kind of viewpoint that an american life is somehow worth more than the life of a foreign citizen. Certainly our foreign policy over the last hundred years has emphasized this, and that's why it seems okay for American's to know literally nothing about events on a world stage... It's the reason why we are still killing and dying in Iraq today. If fucking people would just take the time to turn off the God Damn television... No one seems to understand that the war in Iraq isn't going badly it all. It's going exactly as the people who started it planned it to go - on forever. As long as we are involved in conflict in the middle east oil prices will continue to be higher than they have ever been and rising. The reason that America was tricked (very easily i might add) into supporting an illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq was for two reasons, 1 - The Intelligence that suggested Saddam Hussein had Nuclear Weapons (an outright lie) 2 - Iraq's possible connections to the 9/11 attacks (even more ridiculous considering our administration knew of and took steps to ensure the 9/11 attacks would take place) From this came homeland security legislation, patriot acts 1 and 2, the war in Iraq, an 8 trillion dollar deficit (We were in a 4 billion dollar surplus when bush was first inaugurated) But best of all and most importantly, from the 9/11 attacks came the magic word, "Terrorism", (To be read as "control") What level alert are we on? orange? red? how likely are we to be blown up by terrorists when we walk out the door? WAKE UP! There has only been one terrorist attack on the united states, and the people behind it are the same people who own everythng you've ever seen or touched in your entire life. Maybe we don't careabout british lives, or Iraqi lives, or Tibetan lives. What shames me is that in a nation of 300 million people nobody cared enough to even investigate why 3000 of their brothers burned to death in a pile of rubble... and today they reap what they have sown. The american economy is in a worse state than it has been in 30 years. Gas Prices are 4 times what they were ten years ago, and getting higher. people don't even realize their getting fucked, because they're getting fucked just a little bit at a time. And when your guns are taken from you to keep you safe and you have a chip in your arm to keep you safe you will not be safe. Those who would give up their freedom for temporary security deserve neither. There is no need for the men behind the curtain to put a bag over your head when you close your own eyes.

Okay, I agree with some of the stuff you said. I like how you said that we don't know were getting fucked because we are getting fucked a little at a time. It is like how if you put a frog in boiling water, they jump out right away. But if you put a frog is warm water and slowely boil it, it never leaves and eventually dies. Even though now I'm pretty sure most people know we're fucked. I don't see anyone saying that the economy is AWESOME and the war is going DANDY (besides those who caused it).

Some of the stuff I am wondering if you are joking. First of all, where did this 4 billion dollar surplus come from before Bush? I believe you are thinking of the roaring '20s. If we don't make up facts, we were actually in 5 trillion dollars of debt. And now we are closer to 10 trillion dollars in debt.

And there is no way that the administration caused or helped 9/11.

      1) the surplus i am referring to is the congressional budget, which is measured by the amount of revenue we take in through taxation vs. the amount of money we spend via the military budget, schools, roads, police, etc. the national debt is a completely separate issue.

      2) In regards to your claim that there is no way that the administration was behind 9/11, I would think I would be more knowledgeable on the issue as I've actually done some real research into it, and you most likely and shamefully have not. But it doesnt matter because I can easily make you agree with me. Go to youtube, type in "zeitgeist world trade center". You'll see videos marked part 1 to part 4. watch those videos. If there's no way the government was involved in 9/11, there's no harm in watching them with an open mind, right? watch the videos, and then you'll at least have seen both sides of the story.

Research? You tell me to look at Youtube? Is this your "real research?" This is like 5 steps below Wikipedia. And I have seen some conspiracy movies. I am not sure if it is that one.

      *watches your videos.

Umm I don't know. Maybe I am too trusting in people. There are a ton of holes in the story. I am trying to think about why I still don't believe it. It is probably irrational but this is what goes through my head. There are holes in a million historical events. Conspiracy theorists have a knack for finding those holes and filling them with whatever they want. They could even have their own motives (anti-government). Your right, I really don't have enough info to argue. I just have gut feelings. I think what got me to comment on your first mention of it is that you stated it like a fact. I wish they had a Youtube video that tried to prove that 9/11 was all real. That would be a fair way for me to decide. But to be open minded and watch a one sided video would lead me to that side.

Back on topic. A few months ago (senior year in high school), a classmate of mine did a survey about the war. I forgot the exact numbers but below like 40% of the class even knew we were still in Afghanistan. Nobody in the class knew the total American death toll in the war. Only like 3 were within a few hundred. It is really sad.

I haven't even heard the official US deaths in a month or so, we don't hear squat about british deaths, or iraqi deaths, we only hear about obama and mccain right now unfortunately
I would rather die on my feet then to live on my knees.

Don't forget Spears, Lohann, and Joline. They get almost as much coverage.

It is probably irrational but this is what goes through my head. There are holes in a million historical events. Conspiracy theorists have a knack for finding those holes and filling them with whatever they want. They could even have their own motives (anti-government).
George Bush agreed to talk to the 9/11 commision on the circumstances that he not have to answer any questions he didn't want to
      no transcript was allowed
he was with cheney at the time, not separate
anything he did not want in the report would be cut
there is absolutely nothing relating to wtc 7 in the report
nothing mentioning the molten metal found under the building at temperatures hotter than jet fuel even burn
nothing mentioning why norad took 80 minutes to fail at intercepting the planes when in the past year they had a 100% success rate within 10 minutes

How exactly do you fill those "Holes" up with something that collobarates the theory that a couple fucking fools who lived in a cave their entire life outsmarted the entire US government and military. I'm not going to waste any more time trying to convince you, because you've already seen a fucking mountain of proof. Anything beyond this point is just you shutting your eyes because you are too scared to accept the ultimate ramifications of the truth. You sir, are the biggest problem. even worse than someone so ignorant they can't see what's right in front of their eyes is someone who sees it but shuts their eyes. Be a Man and accept the truth. Yes, You know it now and there's not shit you can do now to un-know it. you have two choices now: Pretend like "terrorists blew up the tower and keep living your pointless life - or accept the truth and go from there. IF YOU DONT LIKE IT KILL YOURSELF BECAUSE I DONT NEED ANOTHER FOOL TELLING ME THAT MAYBE THIS, MAYBE THAT. who the hell are you trying to convince? Both of us know what happened.
