      Pro-hunt or Pro-fox?

Beware! This topic is mostly irrelevant to Americans and is only intended for the British.

Pro-hunt or pro-fox? I think every Briton has an opinion on this, although it only really refers to England. It's been waging war for a while now and there won't be peace just yet, so what is your take on it. Don't rely on the poll above, post your opinions/arguments!

Myself? Strongly Pro-hunt. You see, I don't live in the country but neither do I live in a sprawing city. I live in a small town, walking distance from both a Tesco megastore and a desinated area of natural beauty. It's a chichè, but we all know that anti-hunt campaigners are all from cities, mostly London. The only contact they have with nature is through glossy photographs and BBC2. They know nothing about foxes, their habitat, or their prey, only that they are 'wildlife' and must be protected.

In my opinion, humans are above other animals. We are superior. We may rely on them for food and suchlike, but if an animal adversely affects or wellbeing and prosperity, I say kill them. And it's not as if they are extinct; hunts only kill a few foxes and therefore are in no way harming the overall population. The factor that is harming the foxes is destruction of habitat involved in building cities from whence anti-hunt morons come from.

And what of 'hunting for fun'? Why not? Foxes have no 'contract' that says they cannot be killed for entertainment. Where do you think the phrase 'thrill of the hunt' came from?

I know my opinions are extreme, but it's my opinion so why can't it be? Oh, by the way I'm working class, and I'm not a toff; I actually don't like the company of toffs (as I define them).

there are different ways of keeping down the amount of foxes that roam around the country side in england.

i see absolutely no need to hunt down foxes in the way that has been taking place for many years. as for your comments regarding anti-hunt protesters i wouldn't say that they're completly true. my boyf is an ex hunt sabortor and is in no way a moran. you see, the kind of people that are actually interested in fighting for this kind of cause want peace, and humanity.

it's fine having your opinions, but you should always try and stay fluid and open to other perceptions and awarenesses. you could be missing out on a lot if you don't. having very strong opinions can mean that you are open for attack. ...plus, try not to put too much on human importance.

as for saying this topic isn't irrelevant to americans, just like you, everyone is entitled to their opinion, regardless.

I say I am pro-fox. However, I'm not caring for the animals. I dont think people should not hunt because it is cruel but because it's soo lame. There are so many better things to do in life than follow dogs after a fox. Seriously, go climb a mountain or something

I’ve spent most of my life living out in the sticks and I’m most defiantly pro-fox because I can’t really be doing with a load of toffs dressed up charging around wrecking the place acting like total [expletive deleted] thinking they have a right to do whatever they like. Also I’m fairly sure all other blood sports are illegal in this country so it makes sense really to bring it into line.

Maystar parliament is passing laws to outlaw fox hunting at the moment in the UK and I assume this is an attempt to share views about that subject. That’s why it would most likely not be relevant to those outside the UK

i'm pro hunt, but you eat what you kill. i'm a hunter, but i've been known to call other hunter's assholes because of their arrogant practices. and to hunt a fox... with dogs... on horse back... is not a hunt... it's bull shit. now again, i'm not an animal rights activist from the city... i'm a country boy... i was raised on hunting and i know that it's a good source for food... yes it's fun, when there's a challenge in it, but what those douche bags do in the name of entertainment is just arrogant and elitist. i don't support it at all.

ohh and no i'm not english, but i have heard a lot on what's going on over there concerning this.

turkeh - I am aware that the gov is passing law etc, I just think that anything can be relevant to anyone - thats if they want it to be of course! stating 'Beware! This topic is mostly irrelevant to Americans and is only intended for the British' is a suggestion that others can not join in?

I'm an American, but I've been following this issue for a few years now, well before it made headlines here. I'm not a bleeding heart liberal, in fact, I'm a moderate republican. I believe that hunting with dogs is beyond inhumane. I also think that in order to hunt here in the US, it should only be for food. The excuse in hunting for population control is absurd, IMO, especially in New Orleans with cops of all people riding around in trucks picking off nutria (sp?) (beaver-like animal.) While they may be a pest, other things that are more humane can be done. Yes I did see that episode of Insomniac. Animals have every right to be here, just as we do, yet we have the right, as in nature to kill animals for food, but with our superior intelligence, we are obligated to kill food animals humanely. In fact, I would much rather eat an animal I killed myself, because I know that it died humanely, and not in some slaughterhouse, hung up by one foot and its throat slit. So I am getting off track from the original issue, but I go on rants sometimes. Hunting is not a sport, if you are so insecure that you find pleasure in killing an innocent animal, just to kill it, because it's fun, then that says things about your personality. It's a sport where the other team does not want to play. It would be a sport if you gave the bunny a grenade to throw.
