If you mean "love" in the romantic sense, I believe it somewhat. You can't control who you fall in love with, so I think it may have something to do with the chemicals in your body conspiring against you. On the other hand, I would like to believe that love is something more than just raging hormones and messed up physical chemistry. But as of yet, I haven't really seen any proof.

So: true for now.

However, if you mean "love" in the unconditional sense, that's something altogether different and I don't believe that has anything to do with chemistry.

Eros is biochemical love, it is the love that invokes a physical reaction, such as wet palms, excitement.

Agape, true love, asks for nothing in return. It is the quiet, unconditional love that says, yes, always, you are more important to me than anything else. Not because of the times we share togethed, but just because you EXIST!

That's what I meant by "unconditional love". Love for god and love for your child are completely different than, say, love for a friend, family, or a lover.

True, love is the most beautiful thing there is, when shes true that is.
Im a hopeless romantic..but really it is. TRUE love conquers all, but its hard to find the one true for you. ALot of people think they have, but in fact they havnt. Suppose your never sure..but I also believe in the concept of soulmates/twinsouls..






I value sweeties life above my own, and I know its vice versa. Call me a fool but I would die of sadness without it(love)

Heh. Fool. It's nice that you're hopelessly romantic, though. I sometimes find myself wishing that I were still romantic. But then I wake up to reality. Some people believe that love conquers all and other such nonsense, and that's great. As long as you are happy and no one is hurt, there's nothing wrong with that. Still, I don't believe in love. Even if I did find the one that's so hard to find in this life (if he or she exists--which I strongly doubt), I still wouldn't believe in it.

I do not think that love can be defined as one thing or have a set definiton. everyone has their own definition for love and the feelings associated with it. then there are some people who would probably never hold anyones life in higher regard than their own. It really comes down to the perspecive of the individual, what does the person feel love is? what would they be willing to give in the pursuit of their feelings etc.

Whatever an individual thinks on the subject is usually percieved totally different by another. It could be that love is the tricks nature plays on the mind to get us to reproduce, or it could be a deeper thing at a mental or spiritual level. So everyone really has to make up their own minds, or at least thats what i believe....

There was a thread somewhere here about the different types of love. The greeks had four or five names for it covering the whole spectrum from
Romantic to absolute.

Lost Soul, I know you believe in love! Maybe not the romantic type at this moment in your life, but I am sure you have love for your parents and friends!
And that type of love is the highest form! Agape.

Think, would you risk and possibly lose your life trying to rescue a child from a burning building? I suspect you would. That is agape and is the most beautiful thing there is.

Was this feeling not love? How about your art? Both of these invoke agape.

I gues it really goes depend on your perspective on it all..and also what you went trough. I suppose that Lost Soul as given up on love in away because she has experienced some bad things in a relationship. And I myself think its great because my relationship means everything to me. And I gues it also depends on your personality, some people just wanna be free and have sex and flirt with whoever they want. Others want one special somebody. Some people prefer going out and meet many people,others prefer staying in for a cuddle night with his/her lover
Some wanna spend as much time with their partner as possible, others wish more time alone.. so many factors that ultimate shape your view on love..

Mabey I am.. but I truely do believe in the concept of soul mates/twin souls and I think this goes indeed beyond the level of normal life. I think indeed spiritual factors are involved, why I think that? I have my reasons..lets just say certain also go beyond this reality
