      If you were immortal...

      What would you do?

What would you do if you couldn't die? Ever? You would just outlive the universe, ignoring the laws of thermodynamics and continuing to survive even in the vacuum of space after the heat death/collapse of the universe?

The same as above, but you could travel in time, and possibly space? When and where would you go? Would you want to see a supernova up close, or go back to the dawn of civilization and watch humanity grow a few times from different places on earth?

What if you could live forever, just never age beyond your prime, but you were vulnerable to fatal injuries, could drown or suffocate or die of blood loss/starvation?

Discuss. I'll be back later after pondering this some more.

      That's not possible.

Most normal humans can already travel in space.

When and where would you go? Would you want to see a supernova up close, or go back to the dawn of civilization and watch humanity grow a few times from different places on earth?
I would go back to before this topic was made.

      Fatal injuries include blood loss.

Discuss. I'll be back later after pondering this some more.
For a second I thought you were Sindred. Stop stealing people's avatars.

According to these standards, I have compiled a list of what I would like to accomplish. For kicks, of course.

      [List still in progress]

1- Circumnavigate the Earth by swimming.

2- Build a fortress out of ice in the middle of Antarctica, by hand. Rename the continent to Southrend.

3- Train physically to martial "perfection".

4- Create the highest quality hand-forged sword that has ever existed on Earth to your understanding.

5- Set self on fire after being soaked in gasoline (will do this multiple times for fun).

6- Get heart surgically removed. Place it in a box, and bury it in the deepest of the ocean's trenches.

7- Bury myself for a year (or more, depending) to experience a very long meditation session. Note to self: bring a light-up watch.

8- Have a friend shoot me with a gun in a public place.

9- Bring a sled to the top of Mt Everest. The rest is obvious.

10- Jump out of an airplane without a parachute.

11- Attempt to surf on the top of a jetliner.

      More to come.

I would probably spend most of my life on earth devoted to learning as many speech and programming languages as possible and developing the skills necessary to create a massive, armored, free-floating library, and if possible a database comprehensive enough to copy as much of the internet and games as possible, so that it would take at least a few thousand years to start getting bored after Earth was gone, and spend the rest of my time travelling the earth to find more stories and games to keep me sane as long as possible. It would eventually run out of power, but I might forget the earliest books I'd read, able to reread them as long as there was light (hopefully there will be low-light vision biomodifiers in the future), but eventually the light, too would run out, and I would likely expend what ammunition I had the forethought to bring trying to get myself to die. Then, if the universe collapsed, things could get interesting. If it was heat death, I'd probably just snap and stay catatonic for the rest of eternity. Maybe do some origami, papercraft, that sort of thing, because the paper could be reused for multiple sculptures.

The same as above, but you could travel in time, and possibly space?
When and where would you go? Would you want to see a supernova up close, or go back to the dawn of civilization and watch humanity grow a few times from different places on earth?

Yeah, that. i would want to go back and travel from the start of language and just follow humanity from the beginning to the end, only going through different places and cultures each time, whatever seems interesting. I'd try to visit my ancestors and see what they're up to, see if i have any descendants, maybe try bringing some building blocks for advanced life and try my hand at making a civilization from some monkeys, rats, lizards, maybe even bacteria if I get bored enough.
Why, for every thread that mentions time travel, does someone always say "if there was time travel, I would go back to before this thread was created"? Especially when they don;t give any other answer. it's just not constructive, and really should be counted as trolling when they're just saying it to be rude.

What if you could live forever, just never age beyond your prime, but you were vulnerable to fatal injuries, for example you could drown or suffocate or die of blood loss/starvation?
I would try and learn as many languages as possible, read as much as possible and make friends so that people would be less likely to try and kill me. Once the world(s) became too inhospitable to live, I'd give in to death. I might just try and die earlier than that, if i got really bored.

What do you mean? If you mean my avatar looks like Sindred's, I made it from the Death Note series before I was ever here. If you're comparing the post to Sindred's posting style... Well, I don't really care.

Sindred used an avatar that was exactly like yours a very long time back, if I remember correctly.

      • Skydive without a parachute.
      • Have myself shot out of a cannon.
      • Jump trains.
      • Explore deep ocean.
      • Get eaten by a whale or a really big snake.
      • Make friends with jaguars or leopards.

such a list could go on forever...

If I could never die, I'd probably visit everywhere in the world/outer space.

If I could travel through space and time, I'd go see if the Big Bang was real. I'd go watch how life started, and watch it progress. I'd make sure to collect evidence of these things that way I could be filthy disgustingly rich.

i guess i would... wait, i couldn't be immortal if i was susceptible to fatal injuries.... watever i'll go with it....

i would definitely visit every country ever, and spend alot of time writing poetry while lounging in ancient ruins. i would discover new places and travel deep in rain forests. when it comes to space, i think i would just leave that alone. i would rather kepp that a mystery and just watch the beautiful stars shine down on me...

I would hope that I wake up sometime, because living forever would suck. You would never be able to stay in one place too long, and wouldn't be able to have a stable relationship or friendship with anyone.

Could floating in space forever really get boring?

I've always wanted to see outer space. Everything about it is so fascinating to me. Seriously, I saw this video, and my mind was reeling over something so simple as a sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3fqE01YYWs

Actually, if I could live forever, I could help NASA build a moon base and travel farther in space. I could be used to test new NASA equipment and stuff.
