Smile Post Pics of Your Favorite Dog Breeds or Mixes!

Share your favorite (or least favorite) dog breeds and mixes/designer dog breeds.

*If you're going to post a photo of a puppy, please try to include a pic of an adult as well. Puppies are adorable, but it doesn't really do justice to the breed to only post puppy pics.

      Spoiler for ~Unnecessary background info~:

      Pure Breeds

Shih Tzu (owned one for 16 years, so of course my favorite)

Pekingese (I was never big on their appearance, as I've only seen them in dog shows with the long hair that looks like the image below...which is ridiculous...)

But I recently got to look after one for several days in our ICU and he was a doll baby. I didn't realize how adorable they are with shorter fur.

      Westie (West Highland White Terrier)

      Doberman Pinscher

      Papillon (Butterfly Dog)

      Pomeranian

      Finnish Spitz

      Shiba Inu

      Mixes/Designer Dogs

Peekapoo (Pekingese/Poodle Mix, sister owns one)

      Maltipoo (Maltese/Poodle Mix)

      Cockerdoodle/Cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel/Poodle Mix)

      Puggle (Beagle/Pug Mix)

      Least Favorite

(Please forgive if I (or anyone else) insults your doggy, in truth, I love every dog...there are just some breeds that I find more or less appealing than others, or that I've had positive or negative experiences with in the past. I'm sure I will eventually end up loving all these dogs though once I get to know them better.)

Chihuahuas (small dog syndrome --> lots of bites!)

Basset Hounds/Blood Hounds (any very droopy hound-face dog)

Shar Pei (wrinkle face dog with coarse fur that irritates the skin)

Great Dane, Irish Wolfhound, Mastiff (or other ridiculously oversized horse dogs with equally ridiculous oversized poops)

Certain brachycephalic dogs (flat face/short snouts). They're fine if they are small in size (like Pekingese or Shih Tzus), but unfortunately I see a lot of Bulldogs and Pugs (extreme brachycephalic dogs) at work who are overweight and have real difficulty breathing. I may get flamed...but it just seems cruel to breed a dog like this. I've already seen too many with respiratory failure/heatstroke/etc.

Rottweilers (I've only cared for one, and it was an adult male that had not been neutered, so his head was absolutely enormous. He gave me the rottie death stare, showed me his teeth, and growled...which was incredibly intimidating and I thought he was going to eat my face off. I know dogs can sense fear so I need to get over any rottie prejudice so it doesn't have any effect on how I handle them in the future. If anyone knows whether you should or should not look a rottie (or any aggressive dog) in the eye or avoid eye contact...please share, I was unable to find a conclusive answer when searching online.

I've always liked Gordon setters. My parents used to have a beautiful female Gordon setter before I was born.

And I like Newfoundland dogs. When I was little there was a story my parents used to read to me about a Newfoundland dog... I've loved the breed since then.

That Gordon Setter is beautiful, I've never seen one before. It's sad you never got to know her! We care for all the police dogs in the city, and an officer brought in some kind of Newfoundland/Shepherd mix the other day, it was an enormous black dog that looked like a bear. I didn't realize police were allowed to use bears.

Haha sloth...that's a Chinese Crested...not one of my faves either, but some of them are pretty...I met one about 2 days ago.

Yorkies are pretty cute...but I'm always worried I'm going to snap their damn leg in half when restraining for IV insertion. I don't think I'd want a dog that fragile.

I like yorkies. They are kind of a brute force dog, like a bulldog.
I'm afraid to walk one, because I fear that it would just drag me on the leash.

lol...imagine if you saw a yorkie dragging someone like that. If I had one, I'd totally train it to pretend to pull me around when we're out in public.

I love this...(Beagles are pretty damn cute too...cue ninja)

      Border Collies <3

      Australian Shepherds

      I love those 2 dogs so much, they're medium size is which i like. I'm not a fan of big dogs, or tiny dogs, so perfect. A mix of those two would be asfcszgfsagos;odfjgf;odshg ;-;

out of big dogs, I really like the Samoyed they are beautiful

      Huskies

I think it'd be great to have a huge dog, you could cuddle with it and such, but i dunno, i like medium ones better, and smaller dogs live longer than big ones sooo.

      Alaskan Klee Kai (mini husky)

I like the Belgium sheepdog, but it's still pretty big

not sure what this is but I like it

alright now, for one of my top favorites <3 and the kind of dog I have, west highland white terrier/white terrier/westie

that's a puppy, westies aren't small, like lapdog, but they're smaller than medium dogs. like he can sit fine in my lap, but isn't as tiny as a yorkie.
here is a picture of mine that i took his names Chip. That was like a year ago, he just went to get his hair cut so it's really short in the first pic, we don't get it done or anything, sometimes it grows out pretty long (but nothing to how they look like when they're dolled up to be show dogs) (more like in the 2nd pic above when its hair starts getting wavy)
I love him so much haha, we got him when he was 3 months and he's turning 5 this year <3 he knows quite a few tricks too.

in general, I like medium-esque dogs, longer haired, with pointy hair. I'm also in love with how the fur is on the Aussies.

@ Pan Nina: Westie represent xD and also, I LOVE cockapoos!!!! I used to have one when I was a toddler, but once I opened the door when I was 3 and he ran away never to be found again.....he ran away other times but we found him, not that time though

erible...I love all those dogs too! They're beautiful, but I could never have a dog like a Samoyed because I wouldn't be able to stand the shedding. I had a friend that used to have one in grade school and she was always covered in white furs lol. My aunt has a beautiful Siberian Husky/Wolf dog, amazingly she's the sweetest most tolerant dog I've ever known. My cousin found her at the pound! I'll attach a pic. She's way bigger and slimmer than a husky with longer legs and very oversized paws, which is why they think she is part wolf. But she has the husky blue eyes, instead of wolf which are yellow.

I'm jealous that you have a Westie! I absolutely adore them since meeting a few where I work. Sweetest dispositions. And I like their size...you don't have to be afraid of accidentally stepping on them, but they're still small enough to carry around easily. That's so sad about your cockapoo!! Awwhh. They're so cute though, I'm sure he found a good home somewhere.

yeah that's the problem with Samoyed's, and I have very bad allergies so I would probably die hhahahaha. And the good thing about Westies is they don't shed too badly, or at least it's never affected me.
I love huskies <3they are soooo sweet like you said, I plan on getting a dog at the pound sometimes, they are usually so sweet. I love that husky :O so beautiful, and I love when dogs have multicolor eyes.
And haha my westie is crazy! but so sweet, he is very...protective. He goes batshit crazy when the mailman walks by, or really, anyone, except people he knows. But I guess we'd be safe if someone mysterious was walking by because he'd be barking like a mad man. He's very gently, playful, and nice though he cuddles, and follows me around, etc. That's what i like about westies, they are hardy, but very sweet, and the size is totally perfect.

Dalmations have always been my favorite, they look so cool and exotic. They also remind me of cookies and cream which is my favorite ice cream.

they'd be hell to groom. And you'd never know what lies in their fur.

      you can shave them though

I agree, the colors are gorgeous. Have you ever met one? Their bright blue eyes are so entrancing. I've only met one, and it sort of broke my heart because he had bad vestibular disease so his head was permanently tilted to one side pretty severely and he couldn't walk straight for long without falling over. He was really beautiful though.
