      relation between music and extroversion?

so i had a strange thought the other day and i wanted some input from you guys.

I'm a fairly introverted person and i also love listening to music a lot. I have been listening to basically the same songs for a very long time. i guess i have a kind of relationship with them if you will, I know them well i know what to expect and i know that by listen to certain ones i will feel a certain way, lots of memories have been associated with them.

Do you think that an extrovert would be more inclined to seek out new more exciting music as the old ones... well, get old? And that Introverts would be like me who stick to music that they know they like?

Or perhaps I'm full of s*%t and this makes no sense?

I have no idea what I am, but today is 4/20 (stoner holiday, and I'm a stoner), yet instead of going out and partying, I'd rather just sit at home and surf the web.

      Yet, I love the new.

My favorite bands are Sublime and Rancid -- the sounds of both being like old friends. They are calming to me, being either familiar and/or relaxing music, and as someone who grapples with anxiety almost daily, I like to listen to chill music. Though, last night my friend showed me this:

I listened to it about 5 times, bought the CD on iTunes, packed a bowl, and went for a walk.

I never really listen to hard music when I smoke... upsets the nerves a bit too much sometimes, but this was awesome.

Also, my sister is way more extroverted than myself, and every single song I hear her listen to sounds like the same damn thing. Pop. Every song, every band, every 'artist' sounds the same.

Interesting point right there, but me, being a very very found of music, can give you my opinion that it isn't a rule.

I would consider myself an extraverted person, or more like in between the two types, and I have, absolutely, songs that I really cherish and that are a solid part of my life so far, songs that, no matter how much I hear them, they always manage to touch me with certain feeling that I associate them with. And yet, I live in a constant search for new good music, even though its hard to find music that its really good as the ones that I already hold at the top. But I guess it's better that way.

And I have a number of friends with introverted and extroverted personalities, and what I've noticed through time is that the introverted ones generally shows more interest in listening to new music when I recommend something.

You sound just like me. I'm an introvert, and I very rarely branch out and listen to new music. I like listening to music that I know I will like, and that I'm familiar with. For some reason there are a lot of times when I really, really hate the idea of just listening to a bunch of music I've never heard, because there's the distinct possibly that I won't like any of the songs, or even worse find most of them to be appalling to listen to, and I won't be having a good time because my emotions will be affected by the music.
