Dietary Brain Wave Alteration with Green Tea

I thought you might find this interesting:

Now as I am thinking about it, this might be part of the reason why I kind of got to be a natural lucid dreamer in just a month of practicing. I set my intent to have several Lucid Dreams every night throughout the day and I also drink several cups of green tea per day. I think this is amazing. Drink green tea and its just as powerful as meditating?!

      Interesting?
I will have to check this out on my EEG myself.

I looked at the thread originally because in the past I had used (pepper)mint tea/menthol, and I wondered if they acted in a similar way.
I will have to get hold of some 'decent' green tea; e.g. without additives, caffeine in, etc.
You should be able to tell (even without using an EEG) if the tea is helping you relax beforehand.

Green tea relaxes me while increasing my ability to concentrate. I guess it's the combination of theanin and coffeine. The coffeine in green tea is bound to polyphenols so it's absorbtion is slowed down. Which I think is nice.

By the way, I encourage everyone to watch as many of the videos by that guy as possible. You learn so much about health and nutrition. It helps you to live a longer and healthier life => more time for lucid dreaming!

^ Have you done a control, recorded results, or seen any adverse effects to your LD performance when you, for example, took a day off from drinking the green tea?
The reason I ask, is that intent can be a powerful thing in itself, if you know what I mean.

Have you tried taking the tea during a WBTB session?

Yes I indeed took a week of from drinking green tea. Involuntarily though. I was on vacation and hadn't green tea every day. I continued with my usual intent thing but the LD-Rate was much lower that week. No or one short lucid dream per night. But nothing I really recorded. Just by looking back at it, it seems to make sense.

Yesterday I started taking a green tea extract again. Last night I had 4 long LD. And that was before I saw that video today. So the only way this might have worked so well is because I set my intent (or call it what you want) while this theanine caused my brain to be in a alpha state.

In all the intent threads here on the site they say it works best if you are in that alpha state. As outlined in the video, normal people can reach that state after about 90 minutes of meditation with closed eyes.

On other sites I have read that first flush green darjeeling tea has the highest amount of theanine. Incidentally thats what I was drinking the last two days

      Thanks for you reply.
Like you say, I think there are different qualities/strengths of Green Tea out there as well.

I might try some during a WBTB session, when I get hold of some.
Lucid dreaming aside, I could do with something that relaxes me, as I have been a bit stressed out recently.

Highlander, have you already experimented with green tea?

      ^Over the last 3 days I have.
I managed some FA's and a memorable lucid.
I did take the green tea with other things during a WBTB, so it is hard to say initially so far, as I do generally have a good record using WBTB, plus my sleep routine is never exactly the same.
I would really need to try it on its own over a longer period where possible.

did some of my own research regarding green tea over the last few days. if you mix lemon juice in with your green tea it can make the catechin's up to 5x more powerful. and also adding honey to this mixture can even help repair damaged DNA! but don't just take my word for it. go ahead and look it up yourselves!

not sure about using green tea as a way to help you become lucid. but i drink several cups every day. for health reasons.
