Does scent not work the same way?

I'm seeing all these devices like Dreammaker and what not that will induce lucidity through flashing lights...but does scent not work the same way?

If you smell a scent in the real world can you not 'smell' it in the dreamworld?

Or they have always said that scent it the strongest sense tied to memory. Can't training yourself to know your dreaming when you smell a certain scent help you become lucid in the dreamworld?

      Just asking...?

It could technically work but you would need a really strong smell to induce it and whether you would recognise it in a dream would be more the question, i think its possible but not something that would necessarily work completely. Good idea though!

Right lol! def would have to be strong smell ..but yeah the question remains whether you would recognize it in the dream..

Or more so..if you train yourself during the day to smell that scent and then ask yourself if your dreaming...later on that night 'somehow' have that scent dispensed into your room. Once you were to smell it you would strongly remember to ask yourself ' am I dreaming'

All theory of course I have NO idea if it could work lol

I notice that when I burn incense I usually get a dream from that (although I dream everynight anyways) But scents can be stored in you memory and paired with things so having a scent be paired with dreaming is quite possible so I would suggest giving it a try.

The only way i could see it working is if you do an RC everytime you smell that particular smell, and if you smell it whilst dreaming you may naturally do an RC and thus become lucid! Thinking about it now it probably could work

Exactly what I meant! I'm actually in the process of buying one of those battery operated air fresheners that lets out a puff of scent every few seconds. I will train myself to do a reality check when I smell this scent. Then I will have an outsider wait until I am in REM to turn it on ans see if the scent will trigger me to perform an RC during my dream.

Lets see if it works? I will post back after I try it out. Though it will take a while to properly train myself to associate that certain scent to a RC.
