      Melatonin -- too deep?

So i used to take Melatonin every now and then (reasons i haven't taken it in a while later). I'd use it to help me get to sleep, and i was excited about the added bonuses: A bunch of B-complex vitamins in the pill and as people claim, more vivid dreams and better recall.

I have yet to recall a dream the times i've used Melatonin. In fact, people say it makes you knock right out. I've taken three pills and stayed up just fine. Am i just weird?

Anyone ACTUALLY have good recall and vividness with Melatonin?

I'm on 1 melatonin every night at the moment and I'm pretty sure that they increase my frequency and vividness.
I was told melatonin is a naturally occuring sleep hormone so I can't see how they'd knock you out like a zanex or anything.
In fact, when I take melatonin and stay up, I start to actually recall dreams I haven't remembered in what seems like years - while I'm fully awake!

Anyway, the point is, in my experience Melatonin is one of the better ways to get to sleep and still dream.

Melatonin is a chemical produced by your body when there is less light making contact with your retina (you're in a dark place). It makes you tired, but it is also important to many bodily functions. Wikipedia it.

I have problems with recall when I take Melatonin before bed.

At first I'd recall no dreams at all. Now if I'm lucky I can recall one or two while using it. And I feel horrible the next day. I don't know why, everything I've read about it has been positive.
