      Drone/Ambient music?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but anyway...

I was wondering if listening to relaxing ambient music helps attain lucidity. If so, could anyone recommend some good albums? Also, does anyone know if listening to drone like Sunn O))) or Boris is suitable? Some of their music is a bit unsettling but I find it relaxing. Thanks in advance.

I don't know any albums but I think the track Deep Blue Day by Brian Eno has got to do with LDing..:p. Look it on Amazon for a sound sample.

I used to produce drone music and I have purchased quite a bit of it. Let me put a list together for you at home. I have quite a bit.

I also bought some entrainment software that can use whatever background like a drone and binural/monural beats (tones). I've done quite a bit of research with theta tones (not so much just drones). But what I've found is that the entrainment and ambient music keeps your mind focused while dreaming. I typically play it in the later hours 4-6AM perfect opportunity for entrainment and lucidity.

Check out Transparent Corp on the web, they have really affordable great software. I use Brain Sound Studio but they have others.

I don't know if this is related, but in my dreams I always have songs stuck in my head. Usually It's "hitch" by Will Smith, "bad Moon Rising" by I don't know, or "Final Countdown" by Europe.

Moby, Round Sky Music, Krishna Das, Amethystium (Not sure on the spelling) are all good for lucid dreaming. I'm not saying they will work for everyone but they sure work for me.

      Bonobo.

      Very relaxing.

In my last lucid dream I made pink sparks between my palms. I was trying to make a white ball of energy...

Number 11 (Less than you think) is a song I listen to often before going to bed...I swear one of the funky sounds in that song is exactly what I hear when I'm having HI (like a laser gun being fired over and over again)
the song starts out with soft vocals and then opens up to a plethora of droning sounds that definitely put me in the state of mind that make me see hypnagogic imagery. I usually listen to the song after I WBTB, even if I'm not attempting WILD.

As of now, I've gotten into both Stars of the Lid and of course the "father of ambient music" himself Brian Eno. Both are great.

Well, first thing I can tell you is Sunn O))) and Boris would make TERRIBLE sleeping music. That's not to say I don't dig them... but FUCK are you seriously saying you would try going to sleep while listening to Black One? lol

Anyway, ambient & drone music can take you to another world. Usually what I do is I turn out the lights, get comfortable, and turn on an album. Then I just sort of... get swept away by the music. Let me make this clear, I do not try to go to sleep when I listen to this stuff. I do not, however, try to stay awake. I fall into some strange altered state of consciousness where the only thing that exists is the landscape being painted by the music and the emotions that I form as a result. It is really amazing, definitely the only way to listen to ambient/any atmospheric genres of music.

As for sleeping through ambient kinds of stuff... I haven't noticed any effects on my dreams

By the way, if any of you guys dig darker kinds of ambient, Raison d'être come highly recommended. Seriously.
