I think I know the feeling you mean to describe... Is it REALLY hard to describe? Very intricated and abstract? And if I say "Very large space of emptyness, except 1 very small thing in the middle of all that emptyness" sound like it describes that feeling?

I 've had it in my youth alot. daytime, and very often had dreams about it. often nightmares. Had this very same feeling again a couple of days ago. While sitting in bed watching TV with my arms crossed. That what you mean?

Otherwise I don't know. I have a passionate hatred for Techno so perhaps any other repeatative, entrancing beat music could be helpfull in inducing it also?

I definitely think that trance and techno can help tune the mind for dream experiences.

The tracks are like fugues, recursive and iterative, so are basically fractal in structure. For classical, Bach's music seems to be similarly complex and structured.

And, when you listen to music (especially of this sort?), you really change your awareness/sense of time. Following the rhythm of the beats progressing, in any given "now", you're attention is spread out through time, remembering past beats and anticipating those coming up. And, with electronica, you end up doing this with a large number of instruments, say 10-layers thick, keeping track of it all basically subconsciously as you let the music carry you away.

This has the effect of spreading and deepening your conscious immersion in time.

Basically, you're time tripping ... no drugs required.

Any sort of brain training of this eclectic sort is probably good practice for dreaming. For visual plasticity, I've long enjoyed contemplating weird geometry. Try fractals, if you haven't yet, for a start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractal

      Have fun!
