      Brainwaves

Well, I'm interested in trying brainwaves to induce a lucid dream in the afternoon, or the morning if you can't do it in the afternoon.

I've heard brainwaves tossed around a lot here, but it only seems apparent to me that only a few ever got them to work. Are they effective?

And if so, how do i go about utilizing them? What programs/audio files are availible? Do I do it as I WILD? Do I use headphones?

You could always try the BrainWave generator. It's not that great, but I heard that if you actually read all the help files and stuff then you can put something together that's made just for you.

You can also go on youtube and look for some brainwave stuff. I believe the Theta waves in your brain is the dreaming stage of the brain. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Getting in a relaxed state of mind, with deep alpha or theta waves while not falling asleep is probably required for WILD's though you probably also need some faster alpha and beta waves as well to keep your mind awake. Robert Monroe deleloped Hemi-Sync CD's to allow OBE's, Lucid dreams, deep meditation, and other altered states of consiousness. I just ordered a Meditation Hemi-Sync CD off of Amazon, but I don't have it yet and so haven't tried it. I am hoping it will help. You could try meditation or suppliments such as L-Theanine, which seems to work well for me when I have the time to take it and go back to bed about an hour latter. I usually take 200 to 400mg of L-Theanine. This produces GABA and dopamine in the brain, and at these doses creates deep relaxation, and deep alpha brain waves.

To be honest, the way I get to sleep is to stretch (not vigourously, just enough to make you feel really loose/limber), and to 'play' songs in my head, as if it were a jukebox. Somehow, this generates the right brainwaves for me to relax, and stay as still as a stone. That, and have two cups of doubly strong tea.

I presume this could be as much the placebo effect as supplements; it's all in your head, is it not?
Bottom line, if you know music that just gives you a feeling that could not be better described than euphoria, try to remember it fully and do a WILD. The dreamy, euphoric state should shut your body down. I think
The question is What is the question?
      Thanks, Jeff777, for adopting me.

I don't understand how brainwaves can possibly work. The tutorials I have read suggest creating a spike in brainwaves at approximately the points that REM sleep begins, to take your brainwaves up to around 10hz. But then, this happens during REM sleep anyway doesn't it? So what are the brainwaves supposed to do??
