      REM-Dreamer input

I have only had the REM-Dreamer for a couple of days, but it seems like the controls and weird settings are preventing it from working. The first time I tried it during a nap and it didn't work. I am 95% sure it was my fault because I wasn't used to the settings and probably didn't set it up correctly so it didn't go off. The second time I went to sleep and I set the delay for 5 hours and it never went off. The third night I must have taken it off in my sleep. When I woke up I was testing it. I messed with the settings and set the delay for 10 minutes and it went off exactly how it was supposed to. It went off a little later. I just had it sitting on the sofa next to me, so I know it works. It just doesn't seem to work when I want it to. I have not tried it since I adjusted the settings, but I will report back tomorrow. I also noticed that when I was messing with the settings, the Two way connection thing detected movement, but was not very good at detecting my up and down eye movements to shut it off. Any advice? I know some people have them on the forum. I am sure it will work, I just need to make sure I am not doing anything wrong.

I had exactly the same issue. It is a load of tosh. And the two way control thing does not work at all. The only thing I can suggest is, the signals aren't strong enough and you're not noticing them. There's a setting that reports how many times it flashed during the night - use that to see if it did actually flash. When I used that on mine, I frequently found that it did flash, although usually only a handful of times - far fewer than you'd expect! The whole thing is a bit of a joke given how much they charge for it.

Did you increase the sensitivity of the REM detector?

How many times did it go off?

It flashes about 10-20 times for me each night.

I just adjusted the settings so the sensitivity is at 9 and everything is how it was yesterday when I tested it and it worked. This is the first time I am doing everything right so I hope it works. I'll report back tomorrow.

So over the past 3 nights I have forgotten to put on the mask and the other 2 days i woke up and it was on the floor. But on the 2 nights it was on the floor, I still had it turned on and it should have gone off. The generated cue thing said it went off 0 times. I think I should use this when I do a WBTB or a nap so I can ensure it wouldn't fall off too soon and that the delay is set for 20 min instead of 5 hours. What settings do you use XeL? I am not giving up on it. I am convinced that everytime something has gone wrong it was my own fault.

      I use:

      8/9 Light intensity
      Length of cues: 10 sec
      6/9 REM detection sensitivity
      Speed: Custom setting

I suggest using the REM-alarm when you start off though. It'll wake you up 3 minutes after the cues. When you wake up, immediately try to think of anything that could've been the REM-dreamer in your dream.

Right now I'm sleeping without it, because I have a hard time falling asleep with it after 6 or more hours. If you don't even remembering seeing the cues, I suggest you make them longer to begin with. I tried 40 secs. It woke me up every time, but at least I learned to recognize them.
