      Cool Dreams within dreams!

I managed to pull off three levels of dreams inside dreams last night (very Inception-esque), so it really is possible! Your brain can't simulate the entire world when you enter a dream, obviously (the only things you experience are what you see in front of you and whatever memory you have of your dream surroundings). However, if you reach a high enough level of lucidity and have a good memory, your brain can automatically remember enough detail about your surroundings to recreate them later on and even advance time in them.

Basically, in my dream, there were three levels:
      1. My house
      2. Some random building
      3. A street corner

The dream started in my house and I went lucid. I found somewhere to sit and relax (didn't want to lie down or anything in case I wake up in real life). I closed my eyes for a moment, and somehow intuitively pushed my dream body a level down (can't really explain how I did this, it felt natural at the time). Then I was in the building. I did this again and ended up on a street corner. For the rest of the dream, I was jumping between the levels freely. When I returned to a level after having gone another level down, the DCs would act as though I'd been asleep and woken up again (and I'd be in the same position I was before), and as if some amount of time had passed since I left. If I returned to a level after having gone a level up, the DCs would act more like I'd randomly disappeared and returned after a while (they were all freaked out ). Amazing what the brain can pull off...

Anyway, for people with a similar goal: When you're in a dream level and want to go a level deeper, first try to focus on the details of the place you're in. Where are the dream objects and DCs, what are they doing, what time of day is it, etc. Then try to tell yourself to enter another dream. Closing and reopening your eyes can help. Once you end up in another dream, you can try to tell yourself to go back to the old dream. If you paid enough attention to the details, your brain should be able to recreate the scene more or less how you left it. It's all a matter of getting enough dream control

Dude, dreams inside dreams are awesome. I had one the other day and was so hyped about it I was going to make my first DJ entry about it on this site. During a nap, I had this dream I was in my living room, and WILDed while sitting on a chair. I did a bunch of weird stuff, and then woke up in the chair. I jumped around telling my brother it was awesome. Then I dropped a candle and woke up for real. It's a truly crazy experience.
      Lucid dreams, gotta love em.
